4.0 out of 5 stars JOIN ME AND WE RULE THE UNIVERSE, February 26, 2006
This review is from: Psychic Academy, Vol. 9 (Paperback)
As Ai tries to figure out whether he's in love with Mew or Orina, Tokimitsu continues to dog his steps at school. The ADC agent has really begun to go into Darth Vader mode, asking him to join him in ruling the world with their combined strength. And if asking him doesn't work, he's prepared to battle him! Mew is torn between admitting her true feelings for Ai and a desire to not hurt Orina. Things get even more complicated when Valentine's Day arrives, a day in Japan where the GIRLS give chocolate to the boys they like, pretty much the opposite of America. And who is the strange old man seen wandering around the Academy with a rabbit strangely identical to Master Boo, except that he has a moustache?

This kid-oriented setting and plot is matched with some very adult art and a lot of fan service. Katsu Aki has really outdone himself with the characters in this manga. Mew especially has really developed over the series and you hope that things work out for her benefit and she is happy at the end. Orina, on the other hand, has not evolved, and is still pretty much the same good-natured simpleton that she was in Volume 1. Ai's floundering between the two girls is a strike against him, but I sense that as he is maturing, he is leaning towards Mew. The art in this book is good, but the characters are very static looking unless they are involved in a fight, but this is a small complaint. This is a manga really worth reading.
