"When the student is ready-the teacher will come",
By
This review is from: Psychic Dreamwalking: Explorations at the Edge of Self (Paperback)
This book showed up in my life exactly when I needed it most.
If you open the cover it will take you on a journey of the mind and it will lead you as far as your subconscious mind will let you. At the end you will have extensive supply of food for thought and meditation techniques, which you can continuously improve. The book has a combination of references to the metaphysical beliefs, personal experiences and scientific research in the area of psychology. It is written in a way that is easy to read yet the language is not oversimplified and presents a rather unique structured and grounded approach of the hard-to-grasp concepts. This could be your missing piece of the puzzle that would enlighten you in many ways and provide answers to questions regarding astral projection, lucid dreaming and out of body experiences.

Interesting New Perspective!,
By Kotori Distari (GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Psychic Dreamwalking: Explorations at the Edge of Self (Paperback)
This book covers a variety of aspects on the topic of dreamwalking. A more focused look on the various areas that come into play such as learning about one's dreams, how to take a more active roll in having more lucid dreams, remembering dreams, and more. She includes various methods to help one new to the topic as well as individuals more familiar with the subject matter. Also noted within this book are some of her personal experiences and a bit of history in relation to other developments in general about dreams as knowledge has grown over the years.
A very good read for anyone interested in dreams in general or on the topic of dreamwalking. The layout flows nicely from chapter to chapter in an order that allows the reader to progressively expand their individual understanding along with what's presented in this book.

Dreamwalking is a fascinating read. Not only is it a stand alone work, it continues the ideas from the Psychic Vampire Codex in greater detail, rich with stories from the authors past. Michelle Belanger certainly knows how to entertain, educate, and weaves an engrossing tale of personal experiences, history, and helpful exercises. A must have!

Dreamwalking from an unusual perspective,

I agree with Kotori Distari's review, but just wanted to add a bit more.
I enjoyed the episodes Belanger presented about her childhood and later events related to her dream-walking. I thought they made the book feel more personal. For those who are more interested in theory and techniques to practice, that's in this book too. I was annoyed that she said she couldn't find much on dreamwalking on the Internet besides what she'd written herself. She must not have looked hard enough or maybe didn't try looking for "dream walking", "psychic dreams", "shared dreams", "shamanic dreams" or a whole range of other phrases that will eventually lead one to realize this activity has been going on from the beginning of human civilization. Native shamans dreamwalk as part of their spiritual work. Robert Moss (another author on extraordinary dream practices) mentions doing it too. Since Belanger says in this book that she attended an Association for the Study of Dreams conference, she should display a better knowledge of the researchers and practitioners of this ability, and she should have put some of this background into her end notes or bibliography. (Edit note: Belanger does not say or imply that she attended an ASD conference. That was my mistake. Please see the comments to this review.) That said, however, I think this book is invaluable for those who may be both dreamwalkers and vampires, because no other book I know of looks at dreamwalking from the perspective of a psychic vampire and gives advice not only on how to dreamwalk, but on how Not to dreamwalk when you think you might end up feeding on someone you don't want to feed upon. This is a good book for anyone interested in this subject, but it's especially important for some people who may already be practicing this ability, consciously or subconsciously.

I enjoyed this book. It gave much information and presented different points of view for a seemingly one point of view subject. I appreciated the teaching aspect of this book, which was what I bought it for in the first place and was not disappointed.

Michelle Belanger is, first, an incredible woman. Well-rounded in her studies and respected in her field, she is considered by many to be an authority and historian regarding modern vampire culture. We're not talking about the Cullens, kids.
With that being said one may expect a certain amount of eccentricity to tangle itself in the webs of her writing. However I have found this notion to be quite the opposite. She is well-grounded and respectful in her approach to the paranormal, including the topic of psychic abilities/ experiences, what this means to oneself and how to go about growing within this realm. Michelle has written several books, most of which I have in my collection because I had such a positive experience with this read. (She also created the newly-published Watcher Angel Tarot Deck, a decade-long project with talented artist Jackie Williams.) There is a refreshingly simple eloquence to her style of writing. As interesting as it is informative, Psychic Dreamwalking will empower you with the mindset and tools needed to embark on or further strengthen your travels to your own dreamspace and even that of others. Michelle explains the preparation, actual journey, and other relavant information regarding dream walking in intricate detail, drawing from her past and her own experiences. She truly renders the subject approachable to all audiences, encouraging us to adapt the techniques she has found useful to their own style to those that feel most comfortable personally. With great attention to detail of all facets of the subject she is also careful to explain and explore the ethical relationship between the dreamwalker and those involved. Such guidance helps to create a deep sense of structure that ultimately will result in a more rewarding experience for everyone. The bottom line: I loved this book and I am thankful for the way it has effected my mindset and life in a positive way. As Michelle stresses throughout her book wherever you seek to travel, you will find that you must first find yourself. In doing so you may discover you, yourself are truly not so different from this modern-day psychic vampire. -Kendra B.

There are 11 chapters in this book :
Introdction - How the author meet her fiend and spiritual teacher, a little girl named Pearl when she was 4th grade class. Chapter 1 - Hystory about dreamwalking all around the world. Chapter 2 - How to make dream haven, gate of dreams and craft your eidolon (shapeshifter). Chapter 3- The Shifting bundaries of dream. Chapter 4 - Preparing your dream chamber and yourself. Chapter 5 - Opening the gates of dream, to meet persons in dream. Chapter 6 - Riding the twilight, eaing with hynagogic state. Chapter 7 - Remembering your dream. Chapter 8 - Lucid Dream, from Dream Yoga to Stehen LaBerge. Chapter 9 - Invading the Dreamspace, how to control yourself not to dreamwalking without permissions. Chapter 10 - Sex in the Dreamspace. Chapter 11 - Lines of Flesh and Spirit. At Appendix 3 , you'll find sell for dreaming. If you like some thing like dreaming stuff, the best choice is Stephen LaBerge. But this book is OK. Dreamwalking is ability to invade dream space another person. Her techniques was usefull. I can dreamwalking to my friend. THE PROBLEM IS : NOT EVERY PERSONS CAN REMEMBER THEIR DREAMS. No matter you meet your friend with dreamwalking, astral projection or lucid dreaming... it's useless if they can't remember it. Or, they meet you, but failed to recognized you. For more detail information about dreamwalking, you must read book about dream yoga and lucid dreaming. Buy this book, it will takes you to new adventures when you're sleeping. Have a nice try !!!!

Sadly lacking,

This review is from: Psychic Dreamwalking: Explorations at the Edge of Self (Paperback)
I had looked forward to reading a book on dreamwalking, there being so little available in print on this subject, the western tradition first embarked upon by such notables as Madame Blavatsky and Dion fortune sadly has little literature to support it with the early death of the latter.
So it was that when I first heard of a new tome on this subject I expected something of much deeper research and understanding, having been a dreamwalker since very early childhood, sadly I was extremely disappointed. This novel, for it has little substance beyond a fictional work, details childhood steps into dreamwalking with a shallow level of research into Jung and Freud's work which virtually ignored Fortune's further exploration into both the psychological and spiritual meanings that are inherent into an understanding of this discipline. For others who share Michelle's basic level of knowledge into this realm it makes good light reading for the more advanced it seems there is still a book waiting to emerge. |
