Book Description

September 23, 2010
Groundbreaking, yet playful, Psychic Intuition: Everything You Ever Wanted to Ask but Were Afraid to Know by Nancy du Tertre examines psychic ability and the concept that such instincts and intuitions are natural and trainable abilities. This powerful work of nonfiction forgoes spiritual and mystical theories to explain psychic abilities through modern science, linguistics, psychology, logic, neuroscience, and anecdotal evidence. Known as "The Skeptical Psychic," du Tertre pens twenty engaging chapters like "Why Skeptics Lack Psychic Ability (Or, Hidden Prejudices in Logical Assumptions)," "Multi-Modal Sensing (Or, The Taste of Purple, Perfumed Music and Blue Wednesdays)," and "The Misunderstood Imagination (Or, The Biggest Human Sensory Organ)." She is convincing in her presentation because, as an attorney, she relies on her own skeptical nature and desire for evidence to explain psychic ability. Du Tertre's approach to understanding psychic ability is influenced by the notion, first begun with the Romantic Science movement in 19th century Europe, that the role and impact of the observer is essential in observing any phenomenon. She writes in a unique style that combines scientific analysis with personal experience. She cites the works of modern scientists influenced by this movement, including American neuroscientist Dr. Oliver Sacks, Russian neuropsychiatrist Dr. Alexander Luria, and German physicist Werner Heisenberg, when asking her readers to reconsider their assumptions about the natural world, the power of imagination, and the limitations of the human brain. Her mission is to help readers understand their innate psychic abilities by retraining their thought processes so they can recognize the amazing potential of the human brain to tap into unseen, unpredictable and remote events from all corners of the universe.

More About the Author

Nancy du Tertre is an attorney, trained in securities litigation and corporate law, who became a psychic detective and spiritual medium. She now works with law enforcement and victims' families on missing persons and homicide cases. She is also a medical intuitive, energy healer and paranormal investigator. Nancy teaches psychic development classes around the NY-NJ-CT tri-state area, lectures to university psychology students about psychic intuition, gives seminars to paranormal investigative teams around the country, and gives private client readings. She has appeared on radio and television. Nancy is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and an honors published Law Review graduate of Pace Law School.

Nancy did not start out her life as a "psychic" - she became psychic through years of training! She is a firm believer that psychic ability is a natural human trait that most of us lose in a kind of mental trade-off as we develop our cognitive, linguistic, intellectual abilities. Consequently, as Nancy demonstrates in her book "Psychic Intuition," psychic ability can be re-learned by all of us. It is a trainable skill. The book takes the reader on a fascinating journey into the fields of neuroscience, psychology, language and psychic phenomena. The book is intended to bridge the gap between skeptics and believers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo!!!! A MUST Read!!! October 14, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Through years of research and interviews including her own experiences, Ms du Tertre has managed to write a book that will make absolute sense to those in the paranormal field, mainstream science, skeptics and believers alike. There is no other book like it. Being in the paranormal field and, having experiences of my own throughout my life, I can now understand how intuition, psychic phenomena and mainstream science go hand in hand. Be ready to do some intense, and very stimulating reading; there is much to absorb. I will be re-reading this book over and over and, I am going to enjoy debating with the skeptics out here that think they can disprove everything having to do with the paranormal and psychics. I have long had the opinion that all of us have the ability to 'tap into' our natural abilities yet, don't know how. This book has covered it all. It is beautifully written and very well executed! Bravo Ms du Tertre!!! I will be looking forward to more books from this brilliant author!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Treatise October 29, 2010
Format:Paperback
This book by Nancy duTertre is a compelling and comprehensive study on the very delicate subject of psychic abilities. Ms. duTertre has been able to brilliant intertwine scientific measurements, studies, experiments and their results with these so called mysterious powers. We all have these capabilities and we all can learn to use them and become aware of the constant messages coming to us at all times- if we would but listen and trust. I highly recommend this book-it is an enormous brilliant achievement which this author had the brains and courage to conquer. Congratulations to you Ms. duTertre! May you have a generous reception for this amazing book which you so richly deserve. Thank you very much for your time, effort and no doubt sweat and tears it took to get this information together!
You have opened a doorway to the scientific world to the heart of who we are.
