Book Description

0966132742 978-0966132748 November 1999
Psychic Politics is the result of Jane Roberts's search for the rules that govern our inner lives-the links between our daily, subjective experience and the greater Reality that nourishes all of our existence. This is not only her most challenging book, but a very personal investigation in which the sources of dream and myth, and the creative wellsprings of sex and spirituality, appear in their full and breathtaking relationship to daily life.

And here for the first time, Roberts introduces three concepts that are key to understanding her entire body of work: the library, a super-real storehouse of "probably" books that tell of the paths human consciousness has not yet taken; counterparts, simultaneous incarnations living on earth today so as to broaden the fabric of their individual soul's experience; and the codicils, an alternative set of rules for human existence that could transform the framework of our entire civilization.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Jane Roberts insights into time, gravity, and space are far richer than any I have seen in the reports of top physicists attempting to deal with the same questions. . . . She writes with amazing presence and grace about her personal journey into parallel selves. -- Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D., National Book-Award Winning Author of Taking the Quantum Leap and The Spiritual Universe

Jane Roberts possessed a combination of psychic talent and intellectual curiosity that contributed enormously to our understanding of human consciousness. -- Norman Friedman, author of Bridging Science and Spirit and The Hidden Domain

Roberts's genius at asking brave new questions about her own psychic experiences, and about the more "common" events we all experience, led her to a new understanding of the connection between our inner and outer lives. For anyone, academic or non, who is interested in understanding consciousness, Psychic Politics is a must-read. We can all benefit from Roberts's discoveries. -- Lynda Madden Dahl, award-winning author of Beyond the Winning Streak and Ten Thousand Whispers

With its unequivocal affirmation of the conscious mind, Psychic Politics is the ultimate field guide to the links between our inner, subjective lives and the events that unfold in the so-called objective world. A thrilling, illuminating read, and a poignant reminder of the genius that Jane Roberts was. -- Susan M. Watkins, author of Conversations with Seth

About the Author

Jane Roberts (1929-1984) is considered one of the most important psychics of the twentieth century. From 1963 through 1984 she spoke for Seth, who described himself as an "energy personality essence no longer focused in physical reality." In addition to nine books by Seth she also wrote fourteen books of her own. The Jane Roberts/Seth material, which includes many volumes of unpublished material, is housed at the Yale University Archives and is consistently one of the top two most visited collections in the archives.

Because of her contribution to the study of consciousness, Moment Point Press has dedicated its Classics in Consciousness series to Jane Roberts. In addition to Psychic Politics look for new editions of Roberts's Adventures in Consciousness (available now) and The God of Jane (available in February 2000)

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane at her best, March 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
I've read the Seth books and learned much from them, but some of the Jane books are even better. Seth can be tedious in comparison to Psychic Politics. I recommend The Seth Material, Seth Dreams..., Adventures in Consciousness and Psychic Politics, more or less in that order (although Seth Dreams was published much later). Adventures and Psychic Politics apply Seth/Jane's ideas to real life events in Jane's life, described in a vivid way that gives these books an added dimension, making them more immediately "real" and a true pleasure to read.
Thematically, I would summarize the ideas in this book as a system in which one learns to view the "aspects" of the psyche independently of any pre-conceived "frames" such as religious dogma. This approach is so profound and so sane that most belief systems seem trite in comparison. Jane is at her most enlightened here. I strongly recommend this book and the ones that lead up to it; read this after Adventures in Conscoiusness to get the most out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Must" reading for students of metaphysics and spirituality., August 6, 2000
This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book focuses on the links between ordinary, everyday life and the greater Reality that nourishes all existence. The late Jane Roberts (1929-1984), the author of the Seth books, was considered to be one of the foremost psychics of our times and in Psychic Politics introduces three concepts that are key to understanding the entire body of her literary and metaphysical work: the library (a super-real storehouse of "probable" books that tell of the paths human consciousness has not yet taken); Counterparts (simultaneous incarnations living on earth today so as to broaden the fabric of their individual soul's experience); and the codicils (an alternate set of rules for human existence that have the capacity to transform the framework of human civilization. Psychic Politics is "must" reading for students of metaphysics, psychology, and human spirituality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane's Usual Excellent Stuff, April 26, 2000
This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
This is a "Jane" book as opposed to a "Seth" book; it dovetails very well with Vols 1 and 2 of "Unknown Reality: A Seth Book". Much of the book presumes a prior reading of "Adventures of Consciousness" (another "Jane" book) so I would suggest you read that one first.

I find this particular "Jane" book very helpful in expounding on some of the things Seth discusses in "Unknown Reality".
