Jane at her best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
I've read the Seth books and learned much from them, but some of the Jane books are even better. Seth can be tedious in comparison to Psychic Politics. I recommend The Seth Material, Seth Dreams..., Adventures in Consciousness and Psychic Politics, more or less in that order (although Seth Dreams was published much later). Adventures and Psychic Politics apply Seth/Jane's ideas to real life events in Jane's life, described in a vivid way that gives these books an added dimension, making them more immediately "real" and a true pleasure to read.Thematically, I would summarize the ideas in this book as a system in which one learns to view the "aspects" of the psyche independently of any pre-conceived "frames" such as religious dogma. This approach is so profound and so sane that most belief systems seem trite in comparison. Jane is at her most enlightened here. I strongly recommend this book and the ones that lead up to it; read this after Adventures in Conscoiusness to get the most out of it.

"Must" reading for students of metaphysics and spirituality.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book focuses on the links between ordinary, everyday life and the greater Reality that nourishes all existence. The late Jane Roberts (1929-1984), the author of the Seth books, was considered to be one of the foremost psychics of our times and in Psychic Politics introduces three concepts that are key to understanding the entire body of her literary and metaphysical work: the library (a super-real storehouse of "probable" books that tell of the paths human consciousness has not yet taken); Counterparts (simultaneous incarnations living on earth today so as to broaden the fabric of their individual soul's experience); and the codicils (an alternate set of rules for human existence that have the capacity to transform the framework of human civilization. Psychic Politics is "must" reading for students of metaphysics, psychology, and human spirituality.

Jane's Usual Excellent Stuff,

This is a "Jane" book as opposed to a "Seth" book; it dovetails very well with Vols 1 and 2 of "Unknown Reality: A Seth Book". Much of the book presumes a prior reading of "Adventures of Consciousness" (another "Jane" book) so I would suggest you read that one first.I find this particular "Jane" book very helpful in expounding on some of the things Seth discusses in "Unknown Reality".

"That path did something. I recognized it instantly as something I'd been looking for, a magic road of the psyche that was mine alone, as if a flower suddenly realized the direction in which it was meant to grow; a path not just of least resistance but of power; as if in annals forgotten each soul carries future memories of roads it must and will follow-intimate passageways through the cosmos that belong to itself alone; and discovers it's own true tone that opens up clear avenues ahead through cosmic woods that otherwise seem frightening, and snaps back branches, suddenly showing a bright clear moon." This review is from: Psychic Politics: An Aspect Psychology Book (Classics in Consciousness) (Classics in Consciousness Series Books) (Paperback)
I initially purchased Psychic Politics because it was being mentioned so much in the book I was currently reading and my curiosity was aroused. Having read Oversoul Seven Trilogy (which is 5 star book!) I thought it would be nice to read others that Jane personally had produced. Brought through in an altered state of consciousness from her visits to the library its a definite "read again". Up until now "The Nature of Personal Reality" was the only book I had flagged pages to return to - Psychic Politics is now my second. Not initially understanding the choice of title, it all falls into place. I enjoyed getting to know Jane through this book and I feel the information contained within it is invaluable to the human race. I hope your curiosity is aroused enough to purchase it.
