This book is a must have especially for people who work in for corporations or anyone who works with the public in general. It touches on alot of things we never even realize. Even talks about how in relationships we could be victims of a psychic vampire or the predator. Alot of times it is a totally unconscious that a person is draining others of energy. In todays society with all thats going on we need to be aware. Not paranoid just aware. This book is a must have for anyone in a draining relationship,codependant relationships,working in the public or anyone studying the psychic realm. Very beneficial information to have.

I chose this book for my Metaphysical Discussion Group. I bought it originally to learn how to block people that try to access my energy without my permission.

We all know these people. The guy at work that gets in your face and talks really loud and fast so you can't hold your own in the conversation. The woman that stops you in the hall to gossip about your co-workers and cause dissent. The family member that calls to complain about the fact that you don't call them. These are all techniques that psychic vampires use.

We've all walked into a room and noticed the mood of the group. Sometimes, although not a word is said, it's obvious that everyone is stressed, or sad, or expectant. Mob behavior is another manifestation of sharing energy. People that would never riot or attack another person, do so because they are overwhelmed by the emotions that those around them are giving off.

Many abusive relationships are a result of psychic vampirism. The dominant person controls the other by withholding positive energy except for short periods of time to keep the person "hooked'.

There are positive examples of sharing energies also. For example, a mother and her infant are sometimes so closely linked that she knows when the baby needs her. I know personally one mother that woke in the night in a panic, ran to the babies crib, and found him totally blue. She screamed and he woke up, probably just in time. The next day they found out he had SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), and he had to wear a monitor for over a year to keep from slipping away in his sleep. Negative experiences have been known to dry up a mother's milk.

We all live each day with our own emotions, but we also live with the emotions of others.

This book explains what psychic vampirism is, teaches how to spot the energy vampires in our lives, how to block them from both taking energy without our permission and feeding us negative energy, and to make sure we aren't violating anyone else's energy!

There are a few self-tests and many 'how-to' examples for protection and strengthening out energy. It is excellent for personal use, or a discussion group.

When I picked up this book I was very excited about it because it had some exercises (such as interlocking your fingers to close your aura from others) that seemed very intrigueing. With the enthusiasm of the new book I started getting right into but soon found that it fit my rule that if has the author use a title such as doctor on the cover it hard to read because they want to prove there worth of intellect (not all of them... but most of them). This book seemed to try to to hard to be "medically correct" with discriptions that sounded like they were generalizations from a medical journal it came across as impersonal, intellectual, and sometimes hard to put it in usable information.
Now like I said something about it in the title I finished probably two thirds of the book. For me to get that far it had to have something to keep me interested... and it did.
The good aspects about this book is that it does define everything, especailly the types of vampire relationships and symptoms that you can observe in these relationships. It makes it easier to recognize where vampirism actually occurs in everyday relationships... Making vampirism not something that only occurs in especailly evil or practiced people... but something that occurs in codependant, dependant, and in sometimes otherwise healthy relationships. It also does an important and excellent job at making the important discription of telling the reader about how to overcome vampiring another person.
The exercises to overcome vampirism are good but as all magickal/psychological work it requires the reader to actually become involved in the work emotionally more then just doing the motions. Though there is little mention of the emotional involvement needed. While discribing the exercises the author seems to write it as if it would come natural to the reader to do the exercises without discribing to the viewer what to expect fully that is needed of him and what will happen.
Overall I would recommend this book to someone in a codependant/dependant relationship, in a counciling position, or anyone that doesn't feel that they "fit in" or can keep a healthy relationship. Since that includes about everyone... if you look past the books limitations it has a lot of useful information.

This book is not for beginners or newbees(dealing with Psychic Attacks; which is still a rare topic but current event). Ur situation may be advance or frequent, but if you are not into heavy psychic science or raw science in general, then this book needs to be read slow and kept as a reference. TOP NOTCH-EXCELLENT. I was able to follow along after building my studies for 5 yrs. It is known in other science studies, for Practitioners or healers to experience more psychic attacks than the average.

I read Psychic Vampires at a time when I was under attack of one of these energy vampires. Dr. Slate's techniques helped me not only to see how I was giving my precious energy to a negative person in my life, but most importantly, how to shield myself from future attacks. The person is now out of my life. I am more energized and healthy thanks to Dr. Slate's book!

While this book is very effective in strengthening a person's energy system, and may help in providing basic defense against unconcsious psychic vampires, it doesn't provide the reader with a way to defend themself against a psychic vampire who is conscious of his/her 'ability'. In this case, the book actually opens one up to psychic attakc by providing a vampire with higher quality energy to feed from. And shielding is useless against psychic feeding, as it merely concentrates the energy outside of the body, making it EASIER to take. I wouldn't take this book TOO seriously.

I really like this book because it teachers you how to be more aware and to recognize people who are around you.

I bought this for a friend in another city so I have no idea as to the condition or content of the book, but dealing with the vendor was hassle free. If [...] can send me a couch for $2.99, why is Amazon's shipping so expensive?!?

This book explores a phenomenon termed "psychic vampirism". Specifically, it deals with people who limit the energy and auras of others via vampiric tendencies that sometimes augment their own energy and aura. Amazing. However, the author does not cite a lot of evidence to support his claims. As a Ph.d. I would imagine that he would be accustomed to supporting all of his claims with facts. The problem with this book is that while there are some intriguing clues into psychic vampirism, the author combines reincarnation, astral projection, aura viewing, crystal healing, etc. without really proving any of them. There are some very interesting photographs of auras. The author should've provided more of that type of information instead of going from one claim to the next without really proving the vast majority of them.

You'll be amazed at the information gleaned from this well researched book! Dr. Slate, one of todays leading authorities on the paranormal, gives startling evidence for the TRUTH about psychic vampirism! Get this book & build your own psychic defenses against psychic vampirism not just for yourself but for your loved ones as well! Highly recommended-a MUST read!
