1.0 out of 5 stars Serious bugs - No support, June 16, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PsychoToxic (CD-ROM)
I bought this game and have tried everything to get it to run.

It constanly kicks me out of the game when it switches from opening sceen (Angie is watching the news) and when it switches over to FBI. I made sure I had the latest drivers for my video and audio. I have downloaded the latest patch from Whiptail Interactive, which does not support this product. They instead give you an Email address to the developers over in Europe. I am still waiting to hear back from them.

I have more then the minimum requirements (3 GHz, 1 G RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro)

I have never had a game perform this badly and the lack of support is appalling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Execution problem easily fixed...., July 2, 2005
This review is from: PsychoToxic (CD-ROM)
It has been noted by a lot of reviewers that this will not execute properly. Leaving them with a nice coaster for company. That problem is easily remedied. First, please make sure that you are the legal owner of your own copy of PsychoToxic. Otherwise, this is not legal. If you are a legal owner, just install the program. Do not reboot the computer yet. Go to gamecopyworld.com and find the game under its' own title. There is a download there that is called a NOCD for the ENGLISH version of the program. You do not want the GERMAN. It won't work for US versions of the game. Download those files and copy them over the files in the 'BIN' folder of the PsychoToxic directory. If you are doing this correctly, you will receive a notification asking if you want to copy over the old file. You want to say 'Yes to all' for each time you are asked that question. When you are done, find the .EXE file in the 'BIN' folder and click on it. If your game runs, remove the CD. Put the CD away and enjoy your game without it. You see, the problem with the game not executing properly is not with the game itself. It is with the COPY PROTECTION. If the copy protection finds anything on your computer it does not like, it will not allow you to run the game. That is just flat out wrong. This game is HIGHLY addictive and fun. Some of the graphics are quite similar to AMERICAN MCGEE'S ALICE PC game. Very colorful and atmospheric. This is essentially a straightforward shooter starring a quite seductive and quite deadly, female assassin. Dream sequences that pull out thoughts of Max Payne and the original Half-Life PC games. High quality voice acting. Large and very creative levels. Challenging AI. SO-SO music. And acceptable gun effects. The weaponry is very stylish. Often with very detailed engravings on the weapons themselves. I predict that, if you are a fan of straight-on shooters, you will be addicted before finishing level 3. Also, quite surprised at how high quality such a cheap game can be. Grab it before it goes away. It is worth the small amount of effort to circumvent the copy protection. I assure you, it will run if you use that downloaded file properly. Good luck. And, have fun! UPDATE : IT IS NOW 2008. The download in my review may not be available any longer. Please consider searching another location on the internet for it if it is not on www . gamecopyworld . com . The NOCD patch is an essential for most folks who want to enjoy this program. oo many glitches in the copy protection otherwise. Good luck and good gaming!

1.0 out of 5 stars A very, very badly done budget FPS title, March 27, 2006

= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PsychoToxic (CD-ROM)
I love 1st person shooters, but this is easily the most amateurish, poorly executed game I have ever played. It has unbelievably bad graphics, laughably substandard character movements, awful voice acting, boring and unrealistic action sequences, dreadful sound, appallingly bad movie cut scenes, inferior weapon realism, totally unpolished game play, a buggy game engine, etc, etc. Gamers might have been quite amazed at Phychotoxic 12 years ago (I.E.: just *before* the original DOS Doom came out), but now the lack of even the most basic modern gaming software quality in this title implies that it was probably created by two or three mediocre programmers in their home basement (or perhaps the game's company ran out of money mid way through its creation?). Indeed, this is the only game in recent memory that I played for 20 minutes, and then threw immediately into the trash can.
