Easy to follow guide to modern experimental psychology,
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychologist as Detective, The: An Introduction to Conducting Research in Psychology (Hardcover)
Smith and Davis present a concise discussion of the major facets to research in the field of Psychology. It guides the readers through all stages of the experimental design, from conception through implementation and interpretation. The authors succeed where others fail in conveying their ideas in an untechnical yet methodologically sound manner. It is a more than adequate preparation for undergraduate psychology students.

Great text for undergraduates,
This review is from: The Psychologist as Detective: An Introduction to Conducting Research in Psychology (4th Edition) (Hardcover)
"The Psychologist as Detective" is a great book for any undergraduate research methods class.
The authors include several real-life examples to illustrate the material presented. The text itself is wonderfully written. Everything is very clear, but also very concise. Along with the examples (which are well used and helpful), the authors keep the subject readable by including a few witty remarks and observations. The text ranges from the simple steps of the scientific method to the construction of factorial designs and three-way ANOVAs. All of it is broken down to be accessible and interesting enough to keep a student's attention. What's left is a simple, easy to understand guide on how the experimental method works in psychology.

The text is very informative and is in very good condition. I am pleased with all of the information contained in the book and the ability to apply it to the course study. It has never been clearer to me how important good, credible research is. Methods and terminology are those I am certain I will use in my professional pursuit of a career in the sociology field. Now it is possible for me to grasp what is credible research and what is simply 'just enough information' necessary to sell a product or an idea. I highly recommend this text.

As a single parent and a full time student new books are incredibly expensive. I am glad that I found this "slightly used" book at half of the price the college wanted to charge me for a new book. This book was in great shape!

Book was in condition as advertized and arrived quickly. The title makes one wish to delve into it thinking it is a mystery. The mind truly is a mystery and the book was interesting keeping your attention with much informative material that can be used in the future.
