Now in its eighth edition, PSYCHOLOGY APPLIED TO WORK has established itself as the standard for textbooks in introductory industrial and organizational psychology. Written by Paul Muchinsky – a recognized expert and award winning teacher -- this text provides the most comprehensive resource available for I/O students: a research-based text coupled with the most relevant and contemporary applications of today's workplace issues. Case studies, field notes, and real company examples in every chapter illustrate and bring to life the relevance of I/O psychology to students' daily lives. The Eighth Edition of Muchinsky is accompanied by a dramatically expanded selection of media ancillaries for instructors, and improved student supplements.

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best, July 24, 2007
This review is from: Psychology Applied to Work (with Study Guide) (Hardcover)
I cannot believe that I have the privelege of writing the first review for this book. I have loved this book since I first opened it a month before class even started. I still refer to it now that I am out of the class and enjoy its rich information. This is one of those books that you do not want to let go. There is a lot of great information. I would consider this an introductory level book but well worth the money. Enjoy the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars best intro to I/O book available, December 9, 2009
This book covers all of the primary topics in I/O Psychology in a very logical order. Dr. Muchinsky's applied experiences have added to the book tremendously, as students can relate the topics in the book to real-world issues. Dr. Muchinsky is also very happy to answer any questions that students may have while using the book. There are also plenty of online materials for students to study with and for instructors to use (lecture notes, outlines, test bank, discussion guides, activities, etc.). Great Book!!!

The only edit I would suggest is to delete the last chapter about management/union relations. This is a very minor field within I/O and does not need to be covered in an intro book. Overall, it is all very well-written and easy for students to understand. My students enjoyed it very much and I will certainly be using it in the future.
