I hardly ever keep my textbooks, but if there is one I would consider keeping, it's this one. The formatting is wonderful, and the margins are lined with quotes related to the material in that section. I found Myers' writing style to be very informative and easy to understand, and he managed to make everything interesting. (To explain, I usually dislike the history of things like psychology because I find it boring, but Myers had me reading the history of psychology in earnest.)

If you have a choice of textbooks, I would recommend this one. It may not be the cheapest one out there, but it was very helpful, and it came with free access to online materials. The only con I can think of is that some of the boxes with examples of concepts were a little distracting, but that is something I could easily get past.

I hold several degrees, but it was this book that made me wish I was working on a Psych degree. Myers' book is interesting... it holds the reader's attention and makes you want to know more. I found myself wondering, "So, THAT"S why I behaved this way when such-and-such happened?"

I love to read... just about anything I can get my hands on, and when I am finished with a book, I give it away or donate it. Not this book. It is shelved in my permanent "keep" collection. If you ever thought about a career in psychology or clinical sociology, you really need to read this book.

As a psychology major, had to order this book for an intro class and I must this provides a wonderful introduction to all basic topics of social psychology. It doesn't breeze over them either, it actually talks in an intellectual way in detail about each. You walk away from reading this with enough of an understanding to have a basic psychlogical conversation and with the hunger for more. I liked hte way the book was divided up becuase it worked in a very logical progression.

Up to date, contemporary, and modern. A good read, if you must read a textbook. Was the Intro to Psychology college course text and I didn't mind reading most of it.

It is my firm belief that even if you're not taking Psychology 101, you should read this book as you begin your college career. Every chapter is informative, easy to read, and packed with side notes, examples, and case studies. This book should be a requirement for every new college student.

Learn why you're study time isn't productive, why you're sleep time isn't restful, and why the people you interact with respond to you the way they do.

True it's not cheap but it is well, well worth it. I have about 5-6 Psychology textbooks and this is my favorite out of all of them. It not only helps you understand psychology but the social sciences in mind as it helps you learn to think like a social scientist: a must, if you are in the field. I also highly recommend this blog dedicated to the social sciences for the psych-soc students out there:
