Book Description

December 5, 2005
The first edition of this book has formed the basis for many training coureses in personal construct psychology. The book makes the ideas of George Kelly accessible, and applies the theory to a wide range of settings. By a process of interweaving theoretical ideas and practical examples, A Psychology for Living clearly demonstrates how a meaningful view of personality may be conveyed.

The second edition retains the chapters on theory and procedures for the practical application of the theory, and updates real-life examples. The work of new writers and practitioners has been included as well as a new chapter on the use of PCP within organisations.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Includes a wide range of applications from therapy (where it originated) to management, education and numerous other fields. Discusses the basics of the theory and the psychology, giving frequent examples of their use in practice. Concentrates on the personal nature of this approach from the perspective of a professional, a potential or actual client or any person interested in understanding themselves and their relationship with the world around them. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

The First Edition of this book has formed the basis for many training courses in personal construct psychology. People undertaking  therapy using this approach have found it a helpful and reassuring source of information. Its purpose was to make George Kelly’s ideas accessible to a wide range of readers. As this accessibility is what has attracted the favourable response.

The Second Edition retains the chapters on the theory and procedures for its practical application largely unchanged – only ‘pruned’ and clarified where this was felt necessary. Examples of the ideas in action have been updated and the work of later writers and practitioners brought in.

The scope of the book is widened by the introduction of a new chapter on the use of PCP in work for organisations, an area of development which has expanded greatly in the last ten years.
