A neglected masterpiece by Abraham Maslow, published the year before his death. Dr. Maslow challenges the sacred cows of science, insisting that science should not restrict its juristiction to an area limited by Aristotelian decree. In this important work Dr. Maslow declares that science should not leave values solely to the religionists. He goes so far as to advocate a science of values. Far ahead of its time, Maslow points out in this book that mechanistic science is but an extension of mechanistic physics, yet "The recent evolution of science [quantum physics] signifies a general change in the intellectual structure which well may be set beside the great revolution in human thought." Dr. Maslow accurately demonstrates that mechanistic science is not so much incorrect as it is too circumscribed and narrow to serve as a general or comprehensive philosophy to address human behavior.
