Comprehensive and digestable for a layperson also. Great for reference on this topic, whether one is or works with an athlete or any other physically focus-intensive type of occupation and must work through recovery from an injury to continue one's work. Our health benefits from mental attitude and medical advice taken. Professionals can see trouble signs and mitigate through anxieties that hold back recovery using great insights by Dr Heil whose career is largely in sports pain psychotherapy.

this book is a must for coaches and trainers. Many of us know how to treat the body but few realize the mental aspects of an injury. This book looks at injuries and recovery from a very different view than we normally see. Ever wonder why one athlete recovers so much faster or slower that others? What about the athlete that full recovers physically but never seems to return to that high level before the injury. These and other questions are answered not only why but also what you can do to help them recover body mind and soul. I recommend this to all coaches and trainers.
