I'm grateful to have found this book. I'm a professional writer and editor with extensive experience supporting scholars who are developing manuscripts for publication, and supporting faculty developing grant proposals. I recently accepted a new position--a shift in focus for me--to help faculty with Writing Across Curriculum activities for graduate students. This book is a godsend. It gives rich detail about what is known about the cognitive processes associated with writing (which is synonymous with iterative thinking activities). I've only gotten through the first chapter of the book, and am already deeply grateful to have found it. It will be a great support in our approach to working with students as they navigate the transformation process involved in developing critical thinking skills, habits, and their professional identities.

This is great! Very insightful and full of great tips. This is a perfect companion for an 8-part article I read called "Handwriting is More Than Just Pen & Paper" (Google it) which takes the science even further. Together they further the cognitive aspect of writing!

Excellent book by Kellogg, a master in the field. He talks about issues that nowadays are mislabeled as "writers block" when they are simply cognitive issues. Motivation, goal setting and follow through is the fodder for psychologists and can help any aspiring writer. This is a research book, by the way since Kellogg is an academic. It has lots of practical information that can help anyone struggling with not "finding the time" to write.
