This book goes very well with the DSM IV-TR. It complements the diagnoses and explains them from a social work perspective. The case vignettes are very helpful and they illustrate a clear picture of the many client diagnoses social workers face on a daily basis.

I thought this textbook taught me a lot, but I didn't necessarily enjoy myself while reading it. Hey, it's psychopathology, what are you gonna do? If you're a mental health social worker, like me, it'll be worthwhile. Buy the book and learn it!

I'm bored with it. Purchased to compliment course-work for an MSW I am disappointed that I could have bought an older edition and saved quite a bit of money. I bought an 'India' or international edition that was cheaper and contains the same information but the page #s are different because our books don't count the pages till after the table of contents. Regardless, older edition differences seem subtle, mostly case reviews and page number differences. The information is solid and the practical knowledge given in the chapters are valuable lessons if you require it. If it's optional, I would probably shy away. The chapters become redundant like a run-on book review where a simple outline would suffice. Do yourself a favor...save $
