Editorial Reviews

Review

"The questions should be challenging for anyone, and the explanations are particularly useful for the audience likely to be using the study guide. It will undoubtedly benefit anyone wishing to assess their knowledge of psychopharmacology, and should serve as a useful resource for potential board examinees as they prepare for this comprehensive and challenging test."-- "Steven T. Herron, M.D., Doddy Enterprises", "2010"

Good review of psychopharmacology and research to base prescribing decisions upon. Has sections to "test" your knowledge as well as identifies links to the accompanying APA book site.

I ordered this while studying for my BCPP board exam. There were only 5 or 6 questions per chapter and the questions were very basic. Not a good as a sole study guide for pharmacists. Many of the questions were too simplistic compared to the questions on the board exam. It might be better for health care practitioners only needing a basic understanding of pharmacology and clinical uses.

What a waste of paper and money!! The first 118 pages are the questions which are VERY spread out with LOTS of blank space. They could have EASILY gotten all the questions on half that many pages -- probably even a third. Then ALL the questions with ALL the possible answers are typed out AGAIN IN FULL in the answers section. As if the reader is not capable of holding the page with the questions to refer to as they review the answers. So that is 118 pages that is TOTALLY wasted duplication. AND they put in a lot of references after each question in the answers section. Not to mention all the reference referrals in the actual text of the explanations of the answers -- these take up probably 20% of the explanation -- and the typed out references appear to take up about as much space as the answer explanations. If I want references, I will look at the text!! I don't want them in the study guide. I haven't received the text yet so I don't know if all those references are in it but I'm guessing that they are. What a huge waste of space to put them in a study guide!!! There are only about 5 or 6 questions per chapter of the textbook. I wish they would have filled up all that wasted space with more questions and gotten rid of all the duplication and references. Definitely not worth the money when considered that so much of the information in it (explanations and all those references) are probably in the text. I plan to send it back.

Great and complete review of the basic foundation knowlege of the psychopharmacology. There is no tons of difficult to study information and the challenging concepts and problems are figured out by examples. I find it a 'must be' manual for the psychiatric resident.
