Book Description

February 1, 2000

The selection of medications available to aid mental health has become amazingly wide and varied. The Psychopharmacology Sourcebook is a guide to the conditions--depression, anxiety, bipolar, and obsessive compulsive disorders--and the many pharmaceuticals that can be prescribed for them. Prozac®, Xanax®, Pamelor®, Buspar®, Klonopin®, and Paxil® are just a few that are discussed through various case studies.

Zetin and Tate explain the common indications for psychopharmaceutical prescriptions, their overall effectiveness, and their possible side effects. Used in conjunction with talk therapy, psychopharmaceuticals can allow people who suffer from emotional problems a chance to heal and live normal lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative, October 31, 2006

This review is from: The Psychopharmacology Sourcebook (Paperback)
This book is great for a consumer of mental health services as well as students and therapists alike. The book is very easy to understand for those not familiar with medical termanology. Each section is laid out in a way that describes each disorder, describes medications used for that particular disorder as well as other forms of therapy. It also outlines several real life case studies of the disorder and prescibed treatments. So whether you want to be an informed consumer and need something that is not in terms only a professional can understand, this is your book. Myself as a nursing student, I have found this book to be a great companion to the more technical books one must read as a professional.
