An excellent health reference and recommended pick, Zetin and Deborah Tate's Psychopharmacology Sourcebook provides a basic guide to psychiatric illnesses and treatment. From recognizing mental illness symptoms to understanding how family and medical choices work together, this provides an excellent primer.

This book is great for a consumer of mental health services as well as students and therapists alike. The book is very easy to understand for those not familiar with medical termanology. Each section is laid out in a way that describes each disorder, describes medications used for that particular disorder as well as other forms of therapy. It also outlines several real life case studies of the disorder and prescibed treatments. So whether you want to be an informed consumer and need something that is not in terms only a professional can understand, this is your book. Myself as a nursing student, I have found this book to be a great companion to the more technical books one must read as a professional.
