This book breaks down the principles of the mind body connection so the lay person can understand what otherwise are complex investigations. As a Chiropractor I was given the insight I needed to make this mind body connection and has influenced my relationship with the people I treat. This is also a must read for followers of Wilhelm Reich or Alexander Lowen, who were some of the original researchers of this deep and insightful contribution to medicine and body work.

Written in 1950, this was a precursor to the valid field of Psychosomatic Medicine. Yet this volume is of historical interest at best; even then, not of much value. Hundreds of books written prior to 1980 were subsumed and converged into the flurry of very good nutritional self-help reference books such as those by James Balch. Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Fifth Edition

The only possible value I can see for this book now is Alexander's very brief and therefore pretty superficial 45 case studies; which, while they remain articulate and clear, are replicated in dozens of other books and hold no surprises.

Of modern Psychosomatic Medicine literature, books by Michael Lincoln remain the standard

A true classic on which much new research is based. If you are interested in the field of psychoneuroimmunology, you must have this book.

I use this book as a professional reference and have, therefore, not sat down to read it all in one sitting. I am familiar with theories of psychosomatic psychopathology. I ordered this book via Amazon through another seller and it came to me in excellent condition.
