5.0 out of 5 stars DJ Brian: King of the Psychotrance universe
The Psychotrance series is one of moonshine music's longest running series. This installment is fronted by one of the best trance DJs anywhere DJ Brian. I am a little biased because I have been a fan of DJ Brian ever since his first `Hard Desert Trance' installment. The `Hard Desert Trance' series (HDTS) is itself the best series that Moonshine has released. But this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice CD, but nothing outstanding really
The title 'psycho trance'is a bit misleading since this cd has very little if any real trance on it. The tracks on this cd are basically progressive in nature and are not as dark as I was expecting. There are a few gems to be found on this disk, but I was hoping to hear darker, harder trance when i bought this mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars DJ Brian: King of the Psychotrance universe, May 8, 2001
This review is from: Psychotrance 2002 (Audio CD)
The Psychotrance series is one of moonshine music's longest running series. This installment is fronted by one of the best trance DJs anywhere DJ Brian. I am a little biased because I have been a fan of DJ Brian ever since his first `Hard Desert Trance' installment. The `Hard Desert Trance' series (HDTS) is itself the best series that Moonshine has released. But this is a Psychotrance CD and DJ Brian brings his unique, high-energy sound to this CD, the best Psychotrance to date.

If you have never heard any installments in the HDTS than you might not know what you are in for. Well, here is a hint. If you want this CD summed up in a few words it would be like this; Hard, Fast, Driving, Unique, Original and Tight. Now that you have that in mind you can get an idea. This is what trance is supposed to be like. If you do not know what you are in for than go to Moonshine's homepage and take a listen to some streaming audio from this CD and you can get a better idea.

DJ Brian is one of the most skilled DJs in the art of beat-matching. His fades are flawless and his music selection is inspiring. I have seen and heard over 300 DJ's since I became a DJ and I can tell you that he is in the top 2 percent in his field. I even saw him spin live not to long ago and this CD barely catches what it is like to hear him spin. Seventy minutes is barely long enough to be taken on a musical journey.

I may be totally full of it so check it out and tell me if you think that I am wrong. After all, what do I know anyway? :)

4.0 out of 5 stars trance for your mind, body and soul, March 31, 2001

This latest installment in the Psychotrance series features DJ Brian who is just as good a programmer as D:Fuse. This mix flows and hits it off in the right places for the discerning trance lovers. Some of my personal favorites include Christian West- "Rotation", Resistance D- "Feel High(Spacefrog and Timeload remix)", and Signs of LIfe- "Contact (Lee Coombes mix)". This will be a good place to start if you havent heard any release from the Psychotrance series. You really cant go wrong with a Moonshine release.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm liking what I'm hearing, February 19, 2011
This review is from: Psychotrance 2002 (Audio CD)
This is my first experience with DJ Brian, but so far, I like what I hear. I have enjoyed Moonshine releases before which is what initially brought me to this album. In addition I enjoy almost all aspects of Trance (even though I tend to still with either Goa or straight up Trance - think Christopher Lawrence) so I was looking forward to finding some good new tracks (new to me that is). So I must say, this is a very technically well done album. All transitions and beats are seamless and don't interrupt your listening experience. This is a good album and I would recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely mesmerizing, July 9, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Psychotrance 2002 (Audio CD)
Back from a vengeance from the more subtle moods of Psychotrance2001, this mix takes the listener on a journey more in tune with the tracks of Psychotrance2000. Techno is a music form that permits no pessimissm. It's overtones are always optimistic, always looking forward, never back. Its speed and intensity are pure 21st century, a century on the knee of an exponential growth curve. Dizzying is the rate of discovery and technical innovation in this century, and it disallows no extended rest periods. The musical theorem of the 21st century is Techno, and this music is sampled without bias in this CD.

DJ Brian has done the mixing here. The tracks: 1. "Seed Blue Vibrations": A 37 second introduction, a warm-up, but no need to stretch though for the music raises the body temperature quickly and efficiently. 2. "Rotation": Synchronize the body to the melodies at first, but then break free, as the music insists. 3. "Blue Vibrations": Depart from equilibrium: such is the order of the vocals. 4. "HardGroove": African drumbeats overwhelm the listerner. To live life you must dance it. 5. "Feel High": The vocals are lofty and intoxicating. 6. "Dreamshot": Take a ride on the fastest superjet. 7. "Taruntan": A battle of wills between the dancer and DJ. Fatigue can never be an issue here. 8. "Zylon": No respite. The dancer obeys the DJ. Rest is a word not in the dancer's dictionary. 9. "Ritual": Goes through the motions, but with a superposition of patterns. 10. "Synergie": A greeting to the 21st century. 11. "Signs of Life": Ready yourself, for an explosion of musical ecstacy is arriving. The dancer's body toggles between themes: 21st century rhapsody. 12. "Red Star": Holds back at first, but refuses to succoumb to dynamic death. 13. "Percussive Persuasion": Contemplate what it means to dance with no prejudices. 14. "Deep Blue": No room on the dance floor: who can possibly resist being there? 15. "Use Your Instinct": An end in sight of the CD but not its memory.

All of DJ Brian's work is outstanding, but this is my favorite. Great, pulsing Trance. A great buy

5.0 out of 5 stars DJ Brian can do no wrong, January 18, 2002
This review is from: Psychotrance 2002 (Audio CD)
Look, here is the deal. DJ Brian is the MAN. His Hardesertrance mix CDs were good. So is this one. It has just the right mix of music, and evolving flow, and raucus, hard beats. I can listen to it over and over. I am listening to it right now and I am having a hard time staying in my seat and not getting up to move. This is what techno and trance were meant to be. Not some over-compressed noise, not some cheesey major chord anthem, not some ugly mishmash of rhythms, but brilliant, effervescing, continuous motion, the motion of music. The tracks are unique and yet part of the greater whole, which is the mix that flows from DJ Brian's decks. Buy, and you will enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars just a note, November 16, 2003

Okay to all of people out there who are misguided, thinking you're so clever by saying sarcastically that this cd is "too psycho/hardcore" for you (notice the spelling)- you all need to go to school or something. The root "psycho" has to do with the mind, not being crazy. Psycho-trance series are supposed to be thought of as trance for your mind in a sense, not necessarily psychadelic but along those lines. That being said, thanks.
