5.0 out of 5 stars Imagine, Dr. John, but technologically 30 years advanced!, December 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychotropical Heatwave (Audio CD)
For Boomers, who liked Dr. John's first album, "The Night Tripper," imagine that amount of creativity -- and joy in playing with humankind's "dark" side -- technologically fast-forwarded 30 years! Great background music for funky sex -- or Modern Dance! Or put on your headphones, close your eyes, and get lost, going layers and layers deep into the sound. Prince Charming sampled an amazingly eclectic array of sources to create something way ahead of its time. Wow!

5.0 out of 5 stars What happened?, March 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychotropical Heatwave (Audio CD)
I'm 31 years old. When I look in the mirror I see that guy I swore I'd never grow up to be looking back at me. Looks like my dad, but with his soul sucked dry from too many hours of exposure to flouresent lighting. Gray. Cold. Where's my old friend?

Agh ... I know how to get him back, for a little while anyway. Little smoke. Headphones. Prince Charming CD. Lay back, close my eyes, and go somewhere ... Psychotropical.

5.0 out of 5 stars EASY LISTENING, August 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychotropical Heatwave (Audio CD)
Turn down the lights and relax to the haunting cinemarotic zymotic kaleidoscopic plunderphonic technicolor satin smooth exotic esoteric vintage vibe of today's young rebels, living and loving in a luxuriously lush primitive sophisticated pageant of passion, pain, and the poignancy of emotional awakening.

Rendezvous with the throbbing joy of first love augumented by rich opulant, elegent, seductively subdued lyrical instrumental background, this is the story of the wild excitements of youth discovering the depths of their enchanting mysterious purpose on earth.

Psychotropical Heatwave is a delightful and distinguished backdrop for any romance.

This twisting, truning, ever-changing, alwways different thrill-o-matic joyride of dreamlike orchestral beauty keeps revealing new ways of listening, capturing an inspiring multiplicity of distinctive moods: the occasional cool lilt of of a fabulous latin jazz tempo; the sound of the swirling sea and of trade winfds breezing through palm trees expressed in the easy swinging rythem of a popular song.

Warning! The rythems found on this recording are explosive. Those not accusstomed to dancing feet, beating hearts, and a suave sensuous orgy of of desire should listen with caution.

5.0 out of 5 stars My All Time Favorite Trip Hop Album!, May 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychotropical Heatwave (Audio CD)
I've flat out whorshipped this thing since it came out, and am totally stunned about how many folks are sleeping on it. It is more diverse, lush, and strange than anything Tricky, Spooky, or any of their ilk has ever come up with. I remeber how well it reveiwed in the CMJ when it debuted back in 1996, but I guess no one cared, since it wasn't aggressively marketed. It's all instrumental, and densely layered, with both bizzaro samples and original bits of keyboards and bass. It works well as a deep listening peice, space out music, or background music. This Prince flat out rules your ears from start to finish. An original masterpeice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Prince Charming. The first and last name in illbient!, March 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychotropical Heatwave (Audio CD)
If you're looking for something a little more challenging than what's going on in the mainstream you gotta check out Prince Charming; the best in Experimental Drum & Bass, Dark Hop, Dub, Down Tempo, etc... He has two CDs available [...] that I highly recommend. Probably the most trippy wacked out illbient stuff you'll hear... Even the track titles and liner notes are [wacked out].

"Listening in on Prince Charming is like being seduced by the devil himself meshing sex with voodoo, sorcery with studio gimmickry, one where the samples are "dirty" with gunk and resin and dust." - CMJ

"Prince Charming has claimed his legacy, taking the throne to rule over a vast aural spectrum with the uncompromising and all encompassing hypnotic groove theory which has been passed down to him generation by generation since the nucleus of unfathomable chronolog the full range of tonal bliss transcends the mortal boundaries and anything ambient To fully integrate and simulate the Heatwave, you must put your mind on hold and shroud yourself in solitary darkness with nothing more than the oscillating light of the laser." - Bikini
