This book could use a CD rom or a DVD instead of forcing people to be on internet in order to do chapter questions and other activities. Not every one has 24/7 internet access.

I read this for an undergraduate nursing class and found it to be a thorough text with accessible language, featuring authors who are seminal to the field. I would recommend it to other students and teachers.

There was so much information, details, side notes, illustrations, squeezed into every page. I found it to be tons of information with not enough detail, as ironic as that sounds. Probably the heaviest book I've ever purchased.

I needed this book for Excelsior College nursing test. This book was very informative and had an easy style to read. I just needed the book for the Epidemiology and Environmental Health chapters but I ended up using parts of the book to review for the whole Community-Focused test.

I've found the content of this textbook to be a little washed-up. I had to purchase it for a class and would not have done so unless it was required.

I ordered this textbook for an online nursing class. As offered, the book was in brand new condition and arrived within a few days of purchase. I order all of my textbooks from Amazon and haven't been disappointed. I always look forward to being able to trade them back in after the class is completed.

This textbook was very helpful with getting my papers done on time and give many different sources to look up
information on the subject that I was writing on. This book is a 5 Star book for me.

More complicated than it needs to be and poor quality,

First off, the quality of the book - a brand new book - is substandard. They put some tear out pages in the front that made the cover pull away from the binding. When you drop the better part of a Benjamin on a book you want it to stand up.
Second, the pictures are irrelevant and sometimes outdated. Look at figure 44-5 or the unlabeled one on page 743. What do they add to the subject? Nothing would be my answer. There are many more examples. I mean, thanks for giving a break from the wordy text, but at least make the pictures interesting and relevant. There are attempts to break up the wordy writing with the typical Elsevier "What do you think" and "nursing tip" and some "cutting edge" stuff but it was usually distracting and not informative. Oh, don't forget the "how to" blurbs - probably the most interesting. There are 10 pages before you even get to the table of contents. Ridiculous. I did learn from this book and especially the class, but the book is overpriced, heavy and could really benefit from the concept of bullet points. Also, it is poorly constructed.

Very important to this class. There is alot of interesting history about public health nurses that I was never aware of. Great book for not only for school but for learning about my career.
