5.0 out of 5 stars The Girl with the Most Ice Cream, September 1, 2003

Rachael Sage has it all: a warm, expressive voice; well-made songs with intelligent lyrics and creative arrangements; not to mention heart-breaking beauty and a whimsical fashion sense. So why isn't this woman a superstar? Is it because she's gay, Jewish? or just another victim of dumb public taste? Like other women artists who aren't as celebrated as they should be--like Maria McKee and those fabulous Canadiennes Jane Siberry and Sarah Slean--Ms. Sage may never attain fame and fortune, but she deserves to be embraced by discerning music lovers.
Recommended if you like Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, early Kate Bush, or any of those mentioned above.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzling!, January 4, 2007
This review is from: Public Record (Audio CD)
Rachael's CD's are classics that hearken back to the days of Carole King in the Brill Building - pounding out piano based hits that linger in your psyche long after you hear them. This CD is no different (in terms of brilliance) from each of her other releases. It's a gorgeous tapestry of story book songs that I cannot get off my brain. Enjoy and pass on the word - we need to support indie artists getting heard!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant, October 21, 2010

I generally really enjoy this album. Although it is somewhat hit and miss, there are a few songs on here that I particularly love, such as "Bravedancing" and "Of Blue". It's a much cleaner sound than a lot of mainstream music, which I do particularly like. It's not over-produced or muddled sounding. I especially like the orchestral background music she uses in parts of many of her songs.

"Public Record" is Rachael's ambitious fifth album. It is her biggest selling album to date. Highlights include "What If," "Frost," and "Bravedancing," which won first prize in the CSN 2003 Songwriters Producer Project contest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Lyrics and Gorgeous Music, September 14, 2003
This review is from: Public Record (Audio CD)
The mix of Rachael's beautiful voice with the well-thought and meaningful lyrics is a stunning combination. Couple that with some amazing piano key work and the supporting orchestration and you've got one of my favorite CD's of this year. Beyond my geeky description so far -- this CD is just awesome. Go get it!
