Book Description

March 18, 2008
While the Internet has made it easy to locate government agencies it has also opened a deeper bureaucratic maze of confusion. Government agencies at the federal, state and even county level are not consistent in governing public record access. This title clears the way to discovering which agencies maintain public information involving banking & securities, business entities, education, environment, transportation and more. Inside information pointing the way to efficient and timely public record research.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, September 29, 2010

This review is from: The Public Record Research Tips Book: Insider Information for Effective Public Record Research (Paperback)
In my work I don't spend much time doing record searches... but the knowledge is needed in my field so I like to know what I can. Out of all the public record books I've read so far, this book has been the best. It has more information then any other book I've read and the author gets to the point with no b.s. The reason I give this book 4 stars and not 5 is (1) because the author didn't do a good enough review of primary pay database sites such as merlin and lexis and (2) because the author did not go into enough detail about DMV information. I use DMV information often in my field and much more valuable information could have been included in the book about this topic. (for example license palte searches were not discussed).

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete and comprehensive guide to expertly searching the government's public records files, June 6, 2008
This review is from: The Public Record Research Tips Book: Insider Information for Effective Public Record Research (Paperback)
Public Records - they are there, and that is the extent of one's convenience with them. "The Public Record Research Tips Book: Insider Information for Effective Public Record Research" is a complete and comprehensive guide to expertly searching the government's public records files - covering all aspects of it. Court Record Databases, Criminal Records, Government lists, websites that aren't entirely obvious to use, and a glossary of terms that commonly occur. "The Public Record Research Tips Book: Insider Information for Effective Public Record Research" is highly recommended to community library business collections and for anyone who has to search these records often.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Public Record Research Tips Book:, August 22, 2011

My opinion of this book is neutral. I suppose if one needs some general information about how to find people, it might be useful. There was a lot of stuff to slog through and very little actual useful information that I could use. I still don't know how to find someone's birth date which is critical in finding that person. I gave up on the book and joined Ancestry.com and still cannot find my mother.
