Public Symphony sound like a 1970s prog rock band. Growing up in the UK in the early 1970s I like prog rock. The critics decreed sometime around 1977 that such people should taken out and shot. However, I still love albums like In the Court of the King Crimson, Dark Side of the Moon and the Moody Blues' Seventh Soujorn and I always felt that the Clash and Elvis Costello were overrated. Crimson and the Moodies will never be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's the critics who write rock history and Public Symphony make music which has been unfashionable for a long time.Public Symphony are Dobs Vye and James Reynolds, who are British. The tunes are excellent. They use keyboards to make it sound like they are backed by an orchestra. There use female backing singers who sound like those used on Dark Side of the Moon. There is even lead guitar which is refreshing. The musicianship is professional and impressive. I heard the album listening to the BBC's Bob Harris show and bought it several years ago. It seems a travesty that nobody has heard of this band. I went to the band's website, to find if they had recorded anything lately and discovered they are asking for contributions to make a new record. This is very sad. If you like symphomic rock I would give this a try.

Love this Album... don't write a lot of reviews even though I have a vast collection of music, most don't need my help/promotion that I deeply care about... this is one that needs to be known, and needs promotion.. I was sad to see the band didn't get past their debut... At first they sound a lot like Cold Play, who I like a lot... yet they don't have the same leval of meloncoly... the music is more... should I say makes me Nostalgic for the 70's ... ah the greatest decade of pop and Rock Music... The melodies, the Hooks and lyics, the rhytem are all compeling... As I listen the Track chilren of the Heatwave is playing, and it's 11.pm and 94 degrees here in Chicago and we're in the middle of our own heatwave for a week now, maybe that's what drove me to write, dono,, But write I must, somone needs to fund these Guys to see what else they can do... The term Prog-rock gets thrown around withe reguards here but don't get caught up on that label... betweeen 70's critics and time gone by that term lies stereotypicial flat and misunderstood like the polictial term Liberal... now progressive... WTF reclaim it.. theres nothing wrong with being Liberal or a good Prog-rock L.P. which this is and more... Noone says that about coldplay do they, really, well... these guys are just as good, maybe better I think... IMHO... The Songs have Heart and sincerity without being Sappy sad or dismal... The Vocalist, and harmonies are concurrent for any decade I find... The music here is honest, and clean, nothing overdone, dispite the great "synphonic" touches and Fallsetto voicings...Rock On Bros. God Speed

I took a chance on this album after hearing 'rise and shine' and certainly wasn't disappointed. I don't know what else they have, but will get more if they come out with another.
