If you want to study internet advertising history, this is a great book.Other than that,it is a complete waste of time, effort and money.I am surprised that you can still see and buy this outdated book on the bookstore shelf.

If you are able to log on and see this via Amazon you are already too advanced for this book. I guess if I run out of bathroom tissue I may find a use for this book. Other then that it is a waste.

Even the Author Thinks This Book is Out of Date,
By STEVE OKEEFE "Tulane University Professor" (New Orleans, LA United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Publicity on the Internet (Paperback)
I am the author of "Publicity on the Internet," and I agree that it's out of date. Written in 1996, how could it possibly be up-to-date? It covers Prodigy, GEnie, and CompuServe (mostly irrelevant now) as well as AOL and the Web (more relevant than ever). Several chapters are still worth reading: using e-mail news releases, booking chat tours, and dealing with flames. Skip the demographics chapter. This book is strong on techniques for communicating online that have not changed, but it's also lacking examples from the last several years.

This book is a great resource for anyone doing Web Promotion,
By A Customer
This review is from: Publicity on the Internet (Paperback)
I have read a lot of books on Internet marketing and promotion. Some good, some useless. Steve does a great job writing in easy to understand english and presenting a wealth of resources the online marketer can really use. A lot of marketing books cater to only the big corporations. This book is for anyone who wants to learn how to do Internet Promotion the right way, for Free.

All essentials necessary for Web success,
By CARailing@aol.com (California) - See all my reviews

As a PR professional I've purchased several books on this subject, most of which are gathering dust on the shelf. I return to this source again and again. The accompanying one-stop web reference site is updated on a timely basis and always cuts my research time. If the office were burning, this is what I'd grab on my way out!

Does Publicity on the WWW work?,

Steve O'Keefe has hit it on the nose. Publicity is always important. This book is a must read, regardless of your company size. There's also an audio interview with Steve at this location, http://www.realvoices.com/ss/sball/WWA08.htm

Insanely Great!,

Thanks to Steve O'Keefe, my web site (http://www.intrepidtraveler.com) started generating income three days after it went up. It's selling my home-based travel agent system at a blistering clip -- and I've just barely begun to implement the scores of success strategies he provides.
O'Keefe's book deserves to become the bible for every web marketer and pretty soon that'll mean everyone! -- Kelly Monaghan, author of "Home-Based Travel Agent"

This book can be useful in some ways, but the information, contacts and so forth are badly out of date. Many of the contacts given in the book are non-existent now.
