More About the Author

My name is Linda A. Lavid and I'm an author and artist from Western New York. I write, paint, and sell my work throughout Western New York. As time goes by my writing has grown from telling stories to writing a wide assortment of books, fiction and nonfiction. My recent artistic pursuits include painting whimsical cats and women with birds. In all my endeavors I do what I enjoy and market what I produce. Toward this end, I give talks on every aspect of writing, painting, publishing, and marketing. I have given seminars/classes/presentations at Just Buffalo, The Chautauqua Instituition, Libraries, Writer's Groups, to name a few.

My work has appeared in the following publications: The Southern Cross Review,Wilmington Blues, Plots with Guns, Unlikely Stories, Ascent Aspirations,A Cruel World,Zimmerzine, Cenotaph, Over Coffee, Tangents, and published by the Haworth Press. A short story, "The Accident", was a finalist in Otto Penzler's Great Mystery Stories of 2003. "DMV", another short story, received an award from Ascent Magazine. My book, 101 Ways to Meditate: Discover Your True Self, was a finalist in the 2011 Global E-Book Awards. I'm presently working on a series of novellas that are topical in nature, metafictional in style.

Format: Paperback
I bought a few books this year to fill in unknown gaps for writing and publishing in my background. Out of all of them, this book stands at the top. While others were wishy-washy, this book cuts straight to the point and feeds you all the information you have to know, and should know, before embarking on the writing journey. I was fortunate to run into Linda at a Book Arts Fair here in Buffalo, NY. This book caught my attention, and it was the BEST $10 I've spent on my writing venture. Every page offers useful tips for writing and marketing a book. I am working a few non-fiction books, and I found out that not all of the book I bought this year really apply. This one really is for every kind of genre. I look forward to connecting with Linda, and was so excited to find out she is accessible and local.
