Book Description

097492458X 978-0974924588 November 12, 2008
If you are business owner, coach, author, or speaker, writing a book is the best way to demonstrate your expertise. Getting a traditional book-publishing contract is difficult and time-consuming, so many people opt to self-publish. If you’re new to publishing, the process can seem complex. Publishize details a cost-effective method to quickly self-publish a book. In Publishize, you will find information on all the ins and outs of print-on-demand printing (without the subsidy press stigma) and get an overview of the latest online book marketing methods. The information in Publishize will help you find the time to write a book and run your business at the same time; deal with the often misleading and confusing terms surrounding print-on-demand printing and "self-publishing" companies; devise a mouthwatering book title that "hooks" exactly the right readers; and understand layout and design issues, so you end up with a professional book. Publishize also includes online marketing information, such as the six key elements of a book Web site and an overview of the latest methods for marketing books on the Web. Publishize explains everything from social media marketing to podcasting and video book trailers. Unlike most publishing books, Publishize focuses on the publishing industry from the business owner's perspective. With a focus on earning more profits and smart outsourcing, this book is a hands-on guidebook for entrepreneurs who want to add a new revenue stream to their business.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific, Comprehensive Guide for Self-publishers and Entrepreneurs, July 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise (The Logical Guides) (Paperback)
Susan Daffron, the author of 11 books, nine that were self-published, provides a wealth of valuable information for anyone interested in writing and promoting a book.

She offers the reader her knowledge, experience, and expertise in an easy, conversational style. Daffron's title "Publishize" is a term she created to combine "Publish" and "Publicize." She notes (p.2) that in today's world, you can take advantage of the power of print publishing and online marketing, and improve awareness of who you are and what you do.

From the many good reasons to write a book, to advice on turning that book into an empire, Daffron covers all the bases. Some of the subjects she explores are:

The confusion surrounding print-on-demand
Ways to earn passive income
How to survive in any economic climate
Identifying your readers
The writing process
How to deal with procrastination
How to come up with a great title for your non-fiction book
Book production
Your book website
Online marketing and promotion
How to use publicity to buzz your book

These are just a few of the topics Daffron addresses. Her credentials are impressive: she's a successful business owner and president of Logical Expressions, Inc., a book and software publishing company. She's also co-creator of a writing and creativity program called IdeaWeaver, plus she also has a background in writing, editing, graphic design, and Web site development.

Her experience shows in this excellent reference book. It contains a glossary, book publishing resources, and a handy index. Plus she's a great motivator. I enjoyed this book immensely, and expect that it will become dog-eared from frequent use. A very impressive piece of work and a great guidebook for those ready to make the leap into self-publishing. Worth every penny. Enthusiastically recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read On ~ Book Review ~ Publishize, February 5, 2009
This review is from: Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise (The Logical Guides) (Paperback)
I am excited to add this book to my reference library. Actually, I was honored to get a sneak peek at the book before it was even published. I must say that Susan Daffron does an exceptional job of mapping out what could be a quagmire of self-publishing.

If you've been considering writing a book, now is the time to do it. We are living in the information age and if you have knowledge, share it.

Publishize honestly answers questions you might have regarding self -publishing and other publishing options as well. Daffron is upfront about the fact that the Publishize method isn't for you if you want to have the next best seller in major book stores. At the same time, self-publishing has its place, and this book outlines ways to create passive income with your knowledge.

You'll explore various publishing options and discover:
Why sharing your information can help you survive in any recession
How to market your book to generate passive income for years to come
Ways to jumpstart your writing process even if you're stuck
The ins and outs of production including action steps
Publicity tricks and tips

I'm so excited about the contents of this book that I've started writing mine. If you're ready to join the ranks of published authors, I highly recommend this resource. In fact, it now rests on my shelf right next to Peter Bowerman's The Well Fed Self-Publisher.
