This review is from: Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise (The Logical Guides) (Paperback)
Susan Daffron, the author of 11 books, nine that were self-published, provides a wealth of valuable information for anyone interested in writing and promoting a book.
She offers the reader her knowledge, experience, and expertise in an easy, conversational style. Daffron's title "Publishize" is a term she created to combine "Publish" and "Publicize." She notes (p.2) that in today's world, you can take advantage of the power of print publishing and online marketing, and improve awareness of who you are and what you do. From the many good reasons to write a book, to advice on turning that book into an empire, Daffron covers all the bases. Some of the subjects she explores are: The confusion surrounding print-on-demand Ways to earn passive income How to survive in any economic climate Identifying your readers The writing process How to deal with procrastination How to come up with a great title for your non-fiction book Book production Your book website Online marketing and promotion How to use publicity to buzz your book These are just a few of the topics Daffron addresses. Her credentials are impressive: she's a successful business owner and president of Logical Expressions, Inc., a book and software publishing company. She's also co-creator of a writing and creativity program called IdeaWeaver, plus she also has a background in writing, editing, graphic design, and Web site development. Her experience shows in this excellent reference book. It contains a glossary, book publishing resources, and a handy index. Plus she's a great motivator. I enjoyed this book immensely, and expect that it will become dog-eared from frequent use. A very impressive piece of work and a great guidebook for those ready to make the leap into self-publishing. Worth every penny. Enthusiastically recommended!

I am excited to add this book to my reference library. Actually, I was honored to get a sneak peek at the book before it was even published. I must say that Susan Daffron does an exceptional job of mapping out what could be a quagmire of self-publishing.
If you've been considering writing a book, now is the time to do it. We are living in the information age and if you have knowledge, share it. Publishize honestly answers questions you might have regarding self -publishing and other publishing options as well. Daffron is upfront about the fact that the Publishize method isn't for you if you want to have the next best seller in major book stores. At the same time, self-publishing has its place, and this book outlines ways to create passive income with your knowledge. You'll explore various publishing options and discover: Why sharing your information can help you survive in any recession How to market your book to generate passive income for years to come Ways to jumpstart your writing process even if you're stuck The ins and outs of production including action steps Publicity tricks and tips I'm so excited about the contents of this book that I've started writing mine. If you're ready to join the ranks of published authors, I highly recommend this resource. In fact, it now rests on my shelf right next to Peter Bowerman's The Well Fed Self-Publisher.

Publishize is a gem!,
This review is from: Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise (The Logical Guides) (Paperback)
I read Publishize in just a few sittings. That doesn't mean the material is skimpy -- it's just that good. It answered questions I'd wondered about and some I hadn't even thought of. The other self-publishing books I have are growing dusty, but Publishize is already dog-eared!

This is a great resource book. Just technical enough to answer your questions without overwhelming you with tiny details. Deals nicely with current trends and terminology. Leslie Korenko Kelley's Island 1862-1865 Civil War, the Island Soldiers, & the Island Queen

Best book I've ever read about self-publishing,
This review is from: Publishize: How to Quickly and Affordably Self-Publish a Book That Promotes Your Expertise (The Logical Guides) (Paperback)
Like many people, I used to think self-publishing was not the best idea. I now realize it's a very smart way to earn money from your non-fiction book. When you self-publish the way Susan Daffron describes in Publishize, you'll earn a good percentage from each book sale, establish yourself as an expert on the topic of your book and generate excellent publicity for any business you have that's associated with your book.
I've read this book 3 times, and each time I learn something new or am reminded of something I've forgotten. The author writes in a way that is easy to understand and keeps you interested. It takes you smoothly from one step to the next to get your book written, published and marketed, even if you've never done any of it before. If you've ever dreamed of writing a book or getting a book published, buy Publishize immediately! This is the best book I've ever read on this topic, and I've read several. Everyone I recommend this book to loves it and wishes they'd bought it sooner. Definitely do not self-publish a book until you've read this one. It'll save you time, money and headaches. Looking for a gift for friends or family who love books, would like to write a book or want to publish a book? This is it! I've given this to my brother and several close friends who dream of writing a book. Several of them haven't even started writing, but all of them were thrilled to get this book as a gift. As a virtual assistant for authors, and a wanna-be self-published author, I highly recommend this book. If you're like me, and you like to learn from experts who have actually done what they teach, you'll love Susan Daffron and her book Publishize. |
