Product Description

Creamy, cool, and satisfying, it's no wonder Jell-O Pudding has been an American family favorite for more than 63 years. Jell-O Americana Custard Pudding and Pie Filling is not only delicious but also high in calcium. Everyone loves the flavor of this creamy pudding. In fact, 64 percent of moms say Jell-O Pudding is a favorite snack for kids. When you could go for something rich, smooth, and delicious, turn to Jell-O Americana Custard Pudding and Pie Filling.

About the Brand

In 1897, Pearl Wait adapted an 1845 patent for a gelatin dessert, and his wife, May Davis Wait, named the new product Jell-O brand gelatin. Decades later, in 1899, Orator Francis Woodward bought the rights to Jell-O brand gelatin from Mr. Wait for $450. Three years later, Woodward launched the advertising campaign, "America's most favorite Dessert" for Jell-O. Today, Jell-O, which now includes pudding and other desserts, is a member of the Kraft family of brands.

About Kraft
Kraft has come a long way since 29-year-old James L. Kraft moved from Ontario, canada, to Chicago and started selling cheese to grocers from a horse-drawn wagon. In fact, the story dates back further, since for more than 200 years, many companies have united to make Kraft Foods what it is today. It started before the Revolution--in Dorchester, Massachusetts--when, in 1765, a local physician, Dr. James Baker, went into partnership with a young Irish chocolate-maker, John Hannon. It was America's first chocolate mill, where, in 1780, they made a blend of quality chocolate called Baker's chocolate. Baker's chocolate was the first of a long list of companies that have joined Kraft Foods, Inc., in making good food for busy families.

In 1988, Kraft became part of Philip Morris Companies Inc., and a year later Philip Morris Companies combined Kraft and General Foods Corp. to form Kraft General Foods, the largest food company in the U.S. Some of the most popular and well-known brands in the Kraft family include Maxwell House, Yuban, Oscar Mayer, Breakstone, Grape-Nuts, Jell-O, Post, Minute Rice, Cheez Whiz, Cracker Barrell, Tang, Cool Whip, Shake 'N Bake, Stove Top, General Foods International Coffees, and many, many more.

I love Jello Custard but haven't been able to find it in any grocery stores lately. I had friends around the country searching their stores too! One wrote to Jello to ask why it's so hard to find. She was told that Jello was no longer selling the Custard mix in stores because customers don't like taking the time to stir it until it reaches the boiling point. They do, however, sell it on their site to restaurants, etc in bulk. I went on their site to order some. The price was good but the shipping was outrageous so I didn't fill the order.

I looked on Amazon and it showed they were out of it. Stupidly, I thought this meant that they wouldn't be getting anymore in. A week later, another friend told me it was back in stock on Amazon!!! I order a case of 24 at an excellent price (less than $1 a box - I was paying $2+ in grocery stores). Then, by simply buying an item worth $5, I got FREE shipping. I needed a new spatula so I bought that!

The best part is, when it arrived I looked on the box to see if there were microwave instructions. There were!!! I now make it in a microwave in about 8 minutes. It says to stir it but you don't really have to.

Thank you AMAZON for caring one of my favorite foods!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember Americana egg custard?, November 9, 2006

I remember my mom buying "Americana Egg Custard" mix in a brown box (Jell-O) when I was younger. As an adult, I gave up trying to find it in stores (it used to be by the tapioca)...but then I got pregnant and had a serious craving for it so I got online and researched until I found it on Amazon - and was happy to buy an entire case of it (only choice offered). Now I get to make it at home again and enjoy this creamy dessert from my childhood memories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jello Egg Custard Mix, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Jell-O Cook & Serve Pudding & Pie Filling, Custard Dessert, 2.9-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 24) (Grocery)
I have made dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls using Jello Egg Custard Mix for many years and my family really likes them. Suddenly I could not find the mix here, but found some in other cities. Then I couldn't find any. Before Thanksgiving my son didn't like the idea of not having the rolls and went on Amazon and found the 24 box package. We were thrilled to find this item still available and were able to have our rolls as usual.
