This review is from: Puerto Rico Road Map - Folded Giant Map (English and Spanish Edition) (Map)
In general, MetroData's map of Puerto Rico is the best available; that's natural, because they are locally based. But this particular map may not suit your needs because it is actually a special edition, prepared for the 2010 Central American & Caribbean Games, which took place recently in Mayaguez and surrounding towns.

The base map of Puerto Rico itself and the map of greater San Juan are fine, but the other insets are only of communities that hosted games events, mostly in the western third of the island. Missing are insets of important cities like Carolina, Ponce, Caguas and Arecibo; instead you get smaller communities like Cabo Rojo, Moca and Quebradillas. Also, there are no street indices for any of the insets (including San Juan) and the index of towns for the island map is in tiny print.

If you are a map collector, this map will be good to have, but if you want a practical map of P.R. that will be useful in the long term, look for a different edition of MetroData's map.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not detailed enough for driving outside of San Juan, April 3, 2011

This review is from: Puerto Rico Road Map - Folded Giant Map (English and Spanish Edition) (Map)
It includes a good map of the San Juan metro area but the rest of the island isn't shown in enough detail. I had trouble navigating using this map once I left the main highways as many of the smaller roads are not shown at all and there are no markings for services e.g. gas stations. If you are planning to drive in PR outside of the capital I recommend using a GPS device.
