IT IS THE BEST BOOK TO LEARN PUERTORICAN COOKING, ESPECIALLY FOR VISUAL
PEOPLE. I BOUGHT IN BOTH LANGUAGES AND HAS GIVE AS A GIFT AROUND 35.
IT GOES FROM THE BASIC (SOFRITO) TO THE DAILY AND TRADITIONAL.
THANKS CHEF WILO FOR THIS MASTERPIECE

I am 100% Puerto Rican and have been living and eating around the Island for 30 years. I know how Puerto Rican dishes should taste and look like. Wilo's book is a reliable source on Puerto Rican cusine.

This is not a book; it is a piece of art. It contains pictures of the dishes and dessert. Also, the book has an appendix with step-by-step instructions (with pictures) of how to prepare recipes like alcapurrias and pasteles. He proposes new methods that keep the escence of the recipes, but make them easier to prepare.

I have contacted Wilo with comments and questions, and he always answers my emails. The book has a website with videos of some of the recipes:

I've bought a few books just looking for the real Puertorican cooking & this is it. I am very happy to finally have found a book that would make me proud to say; this is my cooking. I have bought both in Spanish & English. Why? Well, it'll help me with the language. I am from Puerto Rico & I was looking for recipes that I've heard from my childhood. I can say that this is just the beginning because there is more that meets the eye in Puertorican food. For the money it's been my best investment, no regrets at all. I can't wait for Wilo Benet to make the second edition because I will be one of the hundreds waiting in line to buy it. I really recommend this book to all boricuas out there & to all of those that likes hispanic food.

Although I am a native to Puerto Rico, I can honestly say that I am learning to cook the authentic Puerto Rican flavors with this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes latin flavors.
