4.0 out of 5 stars Who's Your Friend When Things Get Rough?
Although this is NOT the H.R. Pufnstuf 'feature film' from which the Leonard Maltin review (above) is incorrectly taken, this IS a romp down memory lane. Jack Wild, and the cast of the Sid & Marty Kroft shot "H.R. Pufnstuf" trot around on stage at the Hollywood bowl in front of a live audience. Avid Pufnstuf fans will see why the cherubic young Jack...

2.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely HORRIBLE!!..but kinda fun
Having grown up in the 70's, I had my fill of Kroft Superstars and it was good clean freaked out fun. This special is SO bizzare and silly..words cannot even describe it. They pan to the audience several times and its the SAME footage over and over! The audience members look almost as strange as the characters on stage, witcheepoo is a fake! (I think), and Johnny...

This review is from: H.R. Pufnstuf / Live at the Hollywood Bowl with Special Guest The Brady Bunch [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Avid Pufnstuf fans will see why the cherubic young Jack Wild's popularity fell after his voice changed - he was much better in 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' as an adult. As added guests, the Brady Bunch kids sing and dance through some 'musical numbers' - "Proud Mary" is not to be missed. Also, the characters from "Lidsville" (another Krofft show), and Johnny Whitaker from "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters" make appearances. Look very carefully at the audience, and you can spot Ann B. Davis, and who is that man in drag sitting with Robert Reed?! This video (released by Rhino) is a hoot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Brady Kids, May 31, 2001
This review is from: H.R. Pufnstuf / Live at the Hollywood Bowl with Special Guest The Brady Bunch [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This hilarious piece of classic 70s pop culture is not to be missed. Obviously, the Brady Bunch Kids hadn't rehearsed as much as needed, but how can you get six kids, ranging from ages ten to 17, to successfully and smoothly pull off something like this? I doubt any of them were particularly enthusiastic about this. This is apparent during the run of their performance... they continuously throw each other humorous glances seeming to say, "What are we doing up here?" The microphones don't pick up all their voices, they girls keep trying to pull up their pants for some reason, but no one gets more into it than Bobby (Mike Lookinland). He plays piano with one of the band members, and encourages the audience to get into the spirit. They seem to get into the choreography though, and actually aren't bad at that part, especially Greg Brady (Barry Williams). Watch closely and you can see little Cindy Brady (Susan Olsen) mess up one of her lines, and if you watch even closer you can catch Peter Brady (Chris Knight) mess up a part of their dance number during "Proud Mary". And it's no hard task to see red-haired Johnny Whitaker's microphone cord get caught on the stand (Oh, what the 90s have bruoght us -- plastic surgery and wireless microphones! Oh, what would Britney do without either?) All this just improves the classic fun charm that the Bradys give us, and gives us something to think about the next time we see Peter fixing his bike on the show. All in all, it's something for all people from the latter-day generation to watch and have a good laugh!

If you like The Brady Bunch, you'll LOVE this preformance of The Brady Bunch Kids Live at the Hollywood Bowl. It's a great show, and you haven't really lived until you have seen them singing. Great for the whole family, and a must see for all you Brady fans out there ( like me.)

They pan to the audience several times and its the SAME footage over and over! The audience members look almost as strange as the characters on stage, witcheepoo is a fake! (I think), and Johnny Whitaker from Sigmund starts the whole thing off with a dreadful song about needing to have freinds. Then he tells the dumbest joke I have ever heard in my life. Weird and totally dumb, yet I must admit I think I may buy this video for kicks. P.S.-check out Anne B. Davis and Robert Reed sitting in the audience.
