5.0 out of 5 stars ROTTERS RULE!, July 25, 2000

Don't kid yourself with the latest Blink 182 or Fenix TX. That's just a pale shadow of what punk was ever meant to be. For a taste of the real, go back in time to Cali punk circa 1978. This Rotters comp puts all the dope hits on one CD. These bad boys would scare half the Warped Tour off the stage with their non-P.C. lyrics and horrible musicianship. Come wallow in the noise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rotters Still Rock!, December 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pull It & Yell (Audio CD)
I have had the good fortune of seeing these guys while I lived in Cali late 2000 early 2001 with new singer Ron E. Fast. Having been great friends with Ron E., I saw them at Mr. T's, Spaceland, and more and I have never seen a live show with more intensity than The Rotters! Phester, Bob Lee, and Ron E. rule and you need to buy this before they run out. This is punk how it was meant to be!

5.0 out of 5 stars L.A. Punk Godhead, April 28, 2002
This review is from: Pull It & Yell (Audio CD)
Probably the biggest American Punk band over here is definately The Rotters. All this time I thought they were something huge over in America like Bad religion or NOFX. But I find out this isn't true. Most probably the most important American Punk record ever made, the Rotters have it all and LESS! Why Repo-Man didn't use The Rotters in their soundtrack is still a mystery. According to Alex Cox "...they refused to return my calls..." Hard to believe. This record is a must. Actually, I've bought it more times than I care to admit.

I picked this CD up after hearing about just how legendary The Rotters were. At first I was skeptical. But, the more I listened the more I got into it. These guys ROCK!

Now I play this in my car at full volume and get get a total adrenaline rush. If you are tired of the Pop music that passes off for Punk these days, then check out this band. The "Live in Cotati" record really rocks too!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Sh*t rawks!, September 18, 2005

I can't believe that these guys only made this one record. I saw them play at UC Santa Barbara where they blew away the rest of the line up.

They were the first ever punk band I had ever seen (or even heard about for that matter) in those days. What a great band. What great memories of how rock used to be and (really) should be today. These guys will blow your socks off!

5.0 out of 5 stars If only we had known then . . ., April 26, 2010
This review is from: Pull It & Yell (Audio CD)
I remember the day that I met these guys. My best friend at the time, Jeff, introduced me to them and we became very close friends. More than once I remember hearing the very first playing (rehearsals in the curtain shop) of new songs that Phester had just penned. I was a devout friend and follower of theirs for most of the time they were making their way to stardom, and thru the muck and torture of recording and marketing a single (Sit on my face, Stevie Nicks).

Nigel Nitro once gave me a cassette tape of the garage practice recordings. I'm not even sure if I still have it or not. It's probably worth a few pennies by now. Not that I would want to sell it.

If any members of the Rotters remembers "Blockhead" or Harry Carry, I sure miss those days guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars pure punk rock, November 11, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pull It & Yell (Audio CD)
One of the best bands that hardly anyone, including most

punk rockers, know about. Great late 70's Californian punk

with politically incorrect lyrics that remind me of other

bands from that era like Angry Samoans and Fear. This cd

is worth the buy for the songs "Pink Flammingos" and "Sit

On My Face Stevie Nicks" alone, all though everything on

here is great. So place your order and hear what real punk

is all about.

5.0 out of 5 stars This guy has lead an interesting life!, July 25, 2005

I bought this CD after reading Schizophrenic in Japan: An American Ex-Pat's Guide to Japanese and American Society/Politics & Humor by Mike (in Tokyo) Rogers. Mike was Nigel Nitro the lead singer of this band back in it's hey-day and now he's become a successful writer. In one chapter of his hilarious book, he writes about how he was the lead singer of this band in the late 1970's and how that experience has helped him to become a believer in the idea that rock music is bad for children. He doesn't come off with any nonsense about rock being the devils music or anything like that. He succinctly sums it up as, "Loud and agressive sounds are not good for small children." Makes sense.

As far as this CD is concerned, there are some really great rock tunes on it - my kid thinks it's "Sweet". But I think the liner notes alone are worth the cost of admission as they will have you rolling on the floor. The music and the words written in the booklet are a full-speed ahead and damn the torpedoes attack on the corporate music industry that we all suffer through today.

These guys would have been huge if they had a decent producer and some money for promotion. But they did not, and all we have is this gem from the past to enjoy. Some of the songs, like the book by Mike (in Tokyo) Rogers are hilarious.

This guy has most definitely lead an very interesting life that most of us only dream about. I think he's about to become a cult hero. Oh and by the way, I bought their original hit single way back when. Wish I'd have kept it too. I hear they are worth over $150! Who could have guessed?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sh*t kicking all the rest of this woosy crap, December 25, 2005
This review is from: Pull It & Yell (Audio CD)
This is the way it is supposed to be. These guys shredded.

The only punk bands better than the Rotters are:

1) Sex Pistols & Buzzcocks (tie)

3) Bad Religion and NOFX.

Otherwise, get outta my sight. The Rotters kick butt and say sh*t like f*ukc. They ruled the roost in 1977. I hear one of them became an ordained Catholic Bishop.
