Gave me a good understanding of Pulmonary Physiology,
By Cactus Head (Fountain Hills, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pulmonary Physiology (Paperback)
I have this book and the West book. There is not question this book is better. West waves his hands at a lot of problems but never works them out in a detailed way. That isn't the way I learn. This book takes you through detailed solutions so you can better understand the concepts involved. I didn't have time to read the whole book but whenever I was confused by a professor I could look it up in this book and figure the problem out.

The Basics and More,
By BJ Luria (Montreal, Quebec) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pulmonary Physiology (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book for anyone looking to learn pulmonary physiology, especially physio majors and medical students. It starts at a very basic level and proceeds through some of the more complicated topics (at least for me!!). I'm a first year medical student, and our first medical subject after basic sciences was pulmonary physiology. The professors recommended West, but a friend of mine was a physiology major in undergrad and recommended Levitzky. After reading the book, I was extremely happy with it. West may be more well known, but Levitzky's book provides a concise and complete explanation of the relavent topics, including structure and mechanics of the lungs, gas diffusion, and control and regulation of breathing. Very readable and accessible to people with little to no experience in physiology and respiration.

Everything you need for pulmonary phys.,
By
This review is from: Pulmonary Physiology (Lange Physiology) (Paperback)
An amazing book on the how pulmonary physiology really works. Extremely detailed and the ever so important quick read. You will not have to get another book concerning this topic. I may be a little biased as Levitzky was a professor at my school and I had first hand experience with him and his book. However, I was reassured when I saw 3 different Pulm/CC docs with his book on their shelf.
