I have a Times watch w/a great large easy to read face and was looking for something a little more upscale which had day/date as well. This Pulsar filled the bill. It is good looking, very accurate and has an easy to read face.

Great fit & finish....looks more expensive.
Very easy to see dial, nice sized day and date windows. Newer type clasp very easy to put on & remove. Time keeping very good vs. WWV. Excellent value for the money. My other pulsar lasted many years until, unfortunately, lost. I'd buy the same again, unhesitatingly.

The subject watch is quite similar to an earlier "Railroad Approved" wrist watch made under the Seiko brand. The two are the same "caliber" (that is, size), but not the same mechanism.
Earlier, the Seiko "Railroad Approved" watch had an enameled dial while the Pulsar watch had a paper dial. With the PJ6007, the Pulsar version has been upgraded to incorporate an enameled dial for very high contrast and for easier reading in poor lighting conditions. The PJ6007 has also been upgraded to 100 meters water resistance, from, I believe, 30 meters. Although perhaps one-half as expensive as the Seiko-branded "Railroad Approved" watch, this Pulsar is an exceptional performer. The "hack" feature works well, enabling one to set the watch dead-on to a time server. Time-keeping is exceptional. The watch neither gains nor looses a second in several weeks, easily besting any of the several "Railroad Approved" watches I own, including Seikos. The adjustable band is very difficult to adjust. To remove a link you must push the pin out from the smaller of the two side openings using a very small, yet very stiff tool. Once the trick is learned, band adjustment can be effected within a few minutes, but the first link takes about a half-hour to accomplish. Removing links accomplishes a coarse adjustment of band size. A fine adjustment is available on the clasp, with three positions there. The Pulsar PJ6007 is an exceptionally good time-keeper, and with the upgraded enameled dial it is an exceptionally attractive "Railroad Approved" wrist watch, too, certainly equal to the more expensive Seiko in that respect.

Not only a good looking watch, but it only takes a glimpse to tell time, the face is so user friendly. And then a super buy, thanks!

For the $67 I paid, I feel like it was a steal. It obviously is not a $500 watch but for a good looking everyday watch that's easy to read and has some style I love it. I'd had a Pulsar Railroad Approved several years ago and liked it. For some reason I gave it to my brother. When I started looking again I found that Pulsar had redesigned this watch and it is better looking than ever. I didn't see any advantage to the Seiko, especially for the money difference. I considered the Citizen but a lot of reviewers claimed the silver hands made it harder to read and in my experience Citizen crystals seem to scratch rather easily. Also some people complained about the clasp. The Pulsar has a double pushbutton locking clasp.
Like I said, if this is the style of watch you're looking forI don't think you can beat it. Especially for the price

I want a watch which will tell me the time with a clear face and arabic numbers. I will probably not bother to reset the day-of-the-week and date window - it is a nuisance to do it and I would order the watch without it if I could. Pulsar watches last a long time. My only complaint is lack of instructions for shortening the stainless band -- which is exactly the kind of Seiko band that I like. You can figure it out if you stare at it for awhile.

When I received this watch I was actually stunned at how nice it looked. It seemed pretty sturdy too and all for under 50 dollars door to door. However I had to take it to a jeweler to be sized for my wrist. It was on my second return visit to the jeweler to stop a pin from falling out that he stated that the band is "not a good quality band". He had to use a glue in order to keep the offending pin in place and so far so good.

The watch itself was everthing I thought it would be at a great price. The band did not fit. I tried to adjust it but it would not change. I had to take it to a jewler and pay 10$ to get it right. Over all I am very happy with it.

I own quite a few mechanical automatic watches such as Seiko 5s and Orients. Until this watch purchase I had not owed a quartz watch for 5 years. On the subjective side a quartz watch does not have a soul like an automatic watch. I wanted one watch I could set to atomic time and forget. So far after 1 week of ownership the watch has held within one second of atomic time. The dial is very easy to read in daylight and twilight. Nightime dial visability is not good so I stick with seiko for lume in the dark. The case quality is all stainless steel and nicely finished. Since Pulsar is a Seiko brand I thought the watch band would be the same a Seiko 5. The band ok enough, it is china sourced but a notch below a Seiko band. This watch is a step up from a timex and has a screw back case instead of one of those press fit Casio or Timex cases.
Pros: Accuracy 1 second/week Easy to read dial Screw Back Case Classic railroad styling Cons: Total darkness visability Sweep second hand should be longer to reach second markers |
