I've been looking for a really good digital watch and this one is so close to it that it pained me to send it back. I sent it back anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great dressed up digital watch, October 7, 2008

I've only had this watch for less than a week now but I'm very happy with the purchase. The watch seems to have been built well and it looks pretty sharp. The manual could have been written alot better but once you start playing with the buttons it's pretty easy to go through your options. The light works very well and your choices are between amber or blue for the light. One of the feaures I really like is that it's easy to change between time zones. After the time is set and you have choosen your home city (time zone) you can go out into the menu (by hitting the mode button) and select the World Time (in menu scroll by pressing one of the right buttons until World Time is displayed in the middle of the screen and press the mode button again to select the option) then select the city (time zone) you want, then go back to the Time mode. When you press and hold the lower right button the time will toggle between your time zone and the one selected on the World Time mode. Really the only things I would change about this watch is that I would prefer the month to be before the day of the week and I would also like the am and pm to be bigger since all the other numbers are big. I hope this review helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars BIG watch but lots of functions..., November 9, 2008
I had for years a pulsar digital watch that I liked so much that when it "cratered," I was quite sad. I couldn't find an identical replacement. Fortunately, I happened to see the same watch in a store window during a trip to Singapore, snapped it up and had another nine years of satisfaction. When it finally bit the dust, I discovered that Pulsar no longer made the same model but ordered another that had the alarm, count-down alarm, stop watch, and second chronograph to use when traveling in other time zones. In fact this one had five alarm settings and could be easily set up for time zones by selecting a major city in that zone. However it was quite a shock when it arrived; it is much larger than the other watch, something that could not be ascertained by the picture of the watch with nothing else around it for comparison.

I am wearing and getting used to its bulk, although the other was less ostentatious.

Setting and using all the functions has taken time to assimilate, even with the instruction book. However, it does work well. One good thing about the size, and the font for the numbers, is that I don't have to find my glasses to read the time! The band had to be adjusted by a jeweler, at a reasonable price, and is very attractive.

All in all, in spite of the size surprise, I'm satisfied with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best 99$ digital out there., July 18, 2008
Great looking watch with large readouts. Tons of functions that with a little practice become easy to use. Best stopwatch I ever had on a wristwatch. One again the readouts are big and thats exactly what I needed. Keeps perfect time also.

2.0 out of 5 stars So close to perfect that it hurts a little bit, May 24, 2011

I've been looking for a really good digital watch and this one is so close to it that it pained me to send it back. I sent it back anyway.

This watch has an almost endless supply of features but is still easy to use. Modes are selected through a "menu" of sorts, instead of simply toggling through the options. This is cool, if not particularly practical. It's very easy to use, and while it's not like most other digital watches, a few minutes with the manual and you'll be familiar with it.

I have to give Pulsar high marks for the display. The display is absolutely stunning, easy to read even in direct sunlight. The screen contains all the info you could want. I've been hoping for a watch with a dot matrix display, and Pulsar has done an excellent job putting the display to work in interesting and creative ways.

The build quality is excellent. The bracelet appears to be well-constructed and is large enough for even the biggest of wrists. That's good, because of the problem...

The problem: It's very, very large. Almost comically large. I ordered it even after reading all the reviews stating as such, because, well, frankly, I have big wrists, and I can get away with wearing large watches. My benchmark for comically overbuilt watches is my Timex T56371, which is also a large and heavy watch (it actually has two separate movements built into one body!) and I love it. But this one is large and heavy on a whole separate scale. Unless you're a Mr. Olympia contender, you absolutely can not pull this watch off. If you have small wrists, and adjust the band down to fit snugly, you won't even be able to tip your wrist back more than a few degrees. It's large enough it's like wearing a wrist brace. For that reason alone, I can't recommend this watch.

It's sad, too, because if the watch was scaled down about 25%, it is perfection. If Pulsar were to make a smaller version of this watch, I'd buy two.

Great digital watch from the original digital watch maker. Watch is on the larger side- not too big though. The main screen is great displaying all the information a watch can in large readable text. Features are so easy to use I dont think you need a manual. Sturdy feel and classy look.

Excellent purchase if you want a digital watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Watch, May 22, 2010

This review is from: Pulsar Men's PQ2001 World Time Alarm Chronograph Silver-Tone Watch (Watch)
This watch caught my eye because of one thing, the time, date, day and year all on the main screen. Honestly I haven't really played with the rest of it. My old watch had the time only on the main screen. You had to push a button to change to the date, then push the button several more times to scroll around through the other features of the watch until you finally got back to the time. I was getting tired of that and thought to myself, why don't they make a watch with at least the time and date on the main screen? Well I found one, the Pulsar PQ2001. Love it so far. Another cool feature is the ice blue back light . The only compliant I have is the instruction manual which is basically useless. If I cared about using the other features of the watch, this might be more of an issue, but for just the time, date, day and year I figured it out myself.

A great amout of data is provided, but the info is difficult to read even with the bright reader light. It is heavy and big making it fine if you want that in a watch. I gave it to a friend and he seems to like it, but with only an OK from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pulsar Digital Watch, April 21, 2011
This review is from: Pulsar Men's PQ2001 World Time Alarm Chronograph Silver-Tone Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch at JC Penneys and even with my wife's store discount and a special door buster price, Amazon's $70.00 price with free delivery is impossible to beat. The watch is impressive and very accurate. This Japanese quartz movement is accurate to one second a week and with it being so easy to adjust, I just zero it out every couple of weeks for precise timekeeping. The adjustments are made with buttons A, B, C, and D and the crown button activates the LED back light in your choice of red or blue. The red reminds me of the Pontiac dashboard lighting. The band does not come with the usual fine adjustment holes near the clasp. Each link is 3/8" wide so the fit may not be perfect for everybody. The store clerk removed one link on each side of the band and I am completely satisfied with the fit. The instruction book leaves a lot to be desired but the watch is engineered to be very intuitive. I think that in a couple of days I could step through all of the menus with complete confidence. The stopwatch is the best, the alarms are very easy to use and the ability to change time zones with the push of one button is unequaled. There are two options for the time presentation depending upon the font size preferred. Also, there is a battery saving mode that blacks out the face after an hour or two (adjustable). The display reappears with the touch of any one of the buttons. If you are interested in calender messages and reminders throughout the year, this watch will provide the means. I highly recommend the Pulser PQ2001 for the great looks, the accuracy, the Seiko heritage and the price. For some reason I have always wanted a Pulsar ever since they invented the digital watch. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.
