5.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced, entertaining, insightful.
This story is very entertaining if you have read any of Echo Heron's nonfiction work. If you enjoy medical thrillers then this book won't let you down. Echo Heron is an amazing person with a lot of experience. Her humor saturates this book and makes you love Adele.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't care for this book
I liked Ms. Heron's non-fiction books but don't care for her fiction. I've read all of her non-fiction books and have read Mercy and Pulse. I also bought her other fiction books which I may not read. She seems to be prejudiced against overweight people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 1, 1999
This review is from: Pulse (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second Echo Heron book I've read and Adele Monsarrat is fast becoming one of my favorite characters. Along with her vegetarian dog, Nelson, she provides wit and humor in her crime solving antics. A twisting plot had me guessing right up to the end. Just when I was sure I had it all figured out, another possibility presented itself. An excellent read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read...couldn't put in down, gets your Pulse pumping, August 12, 1999

I really loved this book. It is the first of Echo Heron's books I have ever read, but I'm glad I stumbled across it. I will definitely be going for the next one. She creates the characters and makes you feel you know them. She did a very good job of leading you to many assumptions as to whodunit. Then just as you thought you had it figured out, she presented another lead that totally threw you for a loop. You never really suspect the one who turns out guilty. I have no reason to thrash this book at all. And the plot and story line aren't that far fetched, with the world today. There are many anti-abortion activists who believe it is right to kill one human for killing another. I do not agree with abortion, but I guess to each his own. You really need to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Item for Review: Pulse by Echo Heron, February 19, 2009

As I'd mentioned in my review of the book: Fatal Diagnosis, Echo Heron is among my favorite authors! She really can put her experiences down on paper and describe what it's like to be a nurse! I have a # of her books! Echo also has a sense of humor & when I've read the books which I currently have of Echo's titles, I've really enjoyed a # of belly laughs! She is serious about her work as a nurse, yet manages to maintain her sense of humor to get through a rough day on the job!

1.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Lame, January 26, 2009

As a nurse, I am appalled by this book. I picked this book up at a resort when someone else left it for the unsuspecting.
The writing is trite and poorly executed. The plot is full of holes and dull. I read half of it and left it in the seat back pocket of the airplane as I couldn't bear to bring it back into the country!
Nurses as a whole are a good bit smarter and compassionate than Ms Heron makes them out to be. Her "witty" banter/dialogue is unbelievable and silly. I suspect there is not a surgeon in the world that would refer to his senior partners as "blades"....Please!

I heard about this author through a fellow nursing student and found this book in a book exchange store. Since I read this book, I have searched every bookstore for more. I cannot find this author's work anywhere but Amazon.com. Thanks to Amazon.com for giving me an opportunity to but more of her work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading, November 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Pulse (Mass Market Paperback)
A very entertaining medical thriller. Although I didn't think this was 'edge of the seat' stuff, Pulse kept my attention, and was responsible for me being very late to bed one night as I '...just wanted to finish these last few chapters!'

The final chapter doesn't sit right. Ms Heron should have left us on a high in the garage! Nevertheless, I'll be picking up the next in Adele's saga very shortly.

I bought Pulse not expecting much from it. Boy, was I wrong! From the first page to the last had me going! I fell in love with Adele and her wonderful friends on Ward8. Echo Heron's books are now part of my must read list!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! A great , fast paced medical thriller, July 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Pulse (Mass Market Paperback)
I was disappointed when this book ended...Echo Heron's unique blend of medical thriller and comedy is absolutely brilliant! I couldn't put it down!!! Adele Monsarrat as the RN and amature sleuth is a wonderful, memorable character . All Heron's characters are so well written, that you'll come away feeling like you know them, or that you wish you did! This one had me stumped until the end. When I wasn't laughing, I found myself making sure the doors were locked and all the lights were on. Can't wait for the next book in this series. GREAT BOOK! Keep ''em coming, Ms. Heron!
