3.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming Speed
Agree with everything in the first review, but I wouldn't rate as high. I checked out the web site before buying and it seemed to make a point of how speedy it is. But it's just...not. You can push it with your leg much faster than you can "pump" it, so there isn't much point to its pump mechanism. Otherwise seems sturdy and well-made. Chain does slip sometimes with...

5.0 out of 5 stars pulse kick and go scooter review, July 7, 2008
i found this scooter to be alot of fun, i dont know why people are writing bad reviews about it.

the pump mechanism only goes fast if you kick it really fast, i had to also reduce the chain length to make it ALOT faster, to do this you need to look at the bottom and you will see a black spring and the chain. disconnect the spring and there should be a little grey hook holding the end of the chain.make that chainlength longer so theres more extra(reducing the chains length), now you can have someone help you for the next part or you can do this yourself (i did this myself)pull the black spring and connect it back to the black hook on the grey disk shaped thing and your ready to go.

what reducing the chain length does.
reducing the chain length makes it harder to push the kick pedal. this in turn makes for a bigger speed burst though. remember to kick off about 3 times to get a good ammount of speed and momentum and then just kick as hard and as fast as you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go back to regular scooter after this!, July 21, 2008
By
I bought this scooter for when I need to get to class from my car quickly. I go to college, I'm 29, 5'2" and 95lbs. It's great because it fits nicely in the trunk and is almost as quick as a bicycle, and just a little more fun. I was using a small Razor-type before, and man, this scooter is like a Cadillac compared to it. The ride is smooth, which is because of the large front wheel and insulated handlebars. And I like it because you don't have to constantly be kicking the ground which wore my legs out with the Razor. The pedal takes a couple of rides to get used to, you feel funny at first, but then get comfortable and find a good cruising speed and rythym that's suitable for you. Your legs also then get used to the motion and it becomes more natural the more you ride it. I read a previous review which said you hit the pedal when you push, but that as well just takes a couple of times riding to adjust yourself to, just like riding a bike, your body just adjusts accordingly. It is a good-quality construction scooter, you can feel it when you ride. I will add, I've read some comments elsewhere about the fork coming from the factory bent which happened to me, so I just took it right back and got one that was not bent, no problem there. I would definitely recommend this to most average-sized people, my boyfriend rode it too, no problem. And it's kinda cool, because when I ride it, I get a lot of looks because it's not common, and I'm sure (in my mind, at least) that everybody is just aching to try it out! And of course, if I was a kid, I would totally love it and ride it all day long!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Scooter ROCKS !!!!, September 11, 2008
I was very surprised to see negative comments on this scooter, I have not seen a better quality product for this price in Years. I love this thing.

I originally bought the Kick and Go for my Sons 7th Birthday... and he could not stop riding it, Inside the house, the garage, the living room, you name it. It had to be parked in his room. He wanted to make sure no one would ride it. So of course, I had to try. All I can say is that I wish they had one when I was younger... what a blast.

Last week we were at our weekly trip to Toys r Us and to my delight, they have a new smaller Nitrous model out.... This was meant to be. I decide to buy my Son the smaller model, because this would be "easier" for him. This was a great call on my end. My wife thinks I'm a great Dad, my son loves this one even more..... and I have a Kick and Go for my self now !! I mounted 2 cup holders on it and now cruise it back and forth to my Neighbors.

My neighborhood is now the Proud owner of 5 adult guys ridding around on Kick N' Go's with Cup holders.

THESE SCOOTERS ARE AWESOME !!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as much fun as a regular scooter, February 28, 2009
By
Our 10 yr. old son desperately wanted one of these for Christmas because he loves riding his Razor scooter, skateboard, and ripstik and doing tricks on them. He tried this out and didn't like it because it is too hard to make the pump work to go fast, and its too heavy to do any tricks. 2 months later and it still just sits in the garage while he continues to ride his other gear. a few of his friends have tried it and also didn't like using it. We had the same trouble with a bent fork when we bought it at the store, but managed to fight with it for an hour on Christmas day to get the front wheel to fit. It's a definite disappointment since we spent so much on it and it isn't much fun to ride (we tried it too, and agree!)

2.0 out of 5 stars Over-hyped scooter, January 5, 2009

This is at least the sixth scooter that we've owned and the third with unconventional propulsion (the other two were electric). My conclusion from this experience: Stick with a basic scooter.

This particular scooter employs a spring-loaded chain, allowing the rider to propel the scooter forward by pumping a lever with one foot. Contrary to the maker's claim it does not exhibit "blazing speed", unless perhaps you go down a steep hill without using the brake. You can push faster the old fashioned way, with a foot on the ground.

Our scooter stopped working after about a half-hour's use by our eleven-year-old. The manual was no help, but after some trial-and-error I figured out that an idler wheel that the chain passes over wasn't turning freely, which caused the chain to slacken, delaying the foot pedal from returning to its starting point. Some oil into the bearings (assuming that there are bearings inside - I didn't take the wheel apart) fixed the problem, at least for now. But the scooter never should have left the factory with such a basic flaw. Even without this problem this is not a scooter that's going to sustain interest from our kids.

You should at least try to take a test drive - and preferably outside, not in the confines of a toy store - before you buy.

If want a new-tech scooter take a look at the Power Wing. It can take some time to get the hang of it - if necessary find someone to show you the ropes - but for us it held the kids' interest longer. And there are fewer things to go wrong mechanically.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much kicking around..., June 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great on flat surface--otherwise it goes faster with feet-to-ground push offs (distance from stand pad to ground is higher than the Razor and the Xootr so you have to dip further to push off with your feet); the back kick is useless where there is the slightest incline; when road is flat the kick bar is good and will keep you going effortlessly without the up and down bobs; solid construction; a bit heavy; I think Xootr would have been better--buying the Xootr--will post review later. This item is useful and fun if you live in a very flat area.

3.0 out of 5 stars scooter better for older kids, August 9, 2008
I purchased this for my 7 year old for his birthday. The foot mechanism that pumps it to go is too hard for him to push and the handle bars even on the lowest setting is way too high for him. I have a teen son and this scooter would be more fitting for him at his age. I would recommend only for older children ... maybe 10 and up.

1.0 out of 5 stars I changed my mind, May 10, 2008
I first gave this scooter a 5 star raving review. It is really fun when I rode it around at toys r us on the slick floors and was fun for a day after I bought it. But now it just sits. The kick drive just doesn't work that well and you don't go fast at all. If you push on it to hard then the chain slips. I recommend getting a xootr (greater scooter ever), razor, power wing, or Trikke. I will be selling it and getting an orbits scooter since I already have the other 4 I mentioned. Maybe if they remodel and change the gear ratio it would be better. If you really want one wait for the next generation, hopefully it will be better. It is heavy but the frame is made well. I guess their marketing guys told them to market it as being fast, but it is the slowest of all my scooters. It is to high off the ground to kick like a regular scooter. An aluminum frame would also be nice.
