Product Description

Amazon.com
The hippest dance game in the world is coming to your living room. In the ’80s, the coolest city kids threw down the cardboard, cranked up the beats, and let their bodies do the talking--forever changing dance and urban culture. Today, they throw down the pad, plug in the disc, and Pump It Up. Call it history repeating itself. Call it the best dance game ever. Call it whatever you want, just don’t miss a beat.

Features:

  • This is dancing, not stomping: Instead of randomly assigning buttons to beats--which leads to boring plodding--choreographers arranged the dances to the song first. Only then are steps assigned to arrows on the mat, so players move like they would on an actual dance floor.
  • The freedom of a five-button mat: Pump it Up: Exceed transforms the genre and rewards players for freestyle exploration. It’s not just where you put your feet, but how they get there.
  • A dance mode for everyone: Home, Sudden Death, and Tutorial modes mean there’s a style and intensity for all levels of players. Rankings in Arcade and Survival modes turn the dance floor into a beat-breaking battleground.
  • Roughly 100 thumping tunes with everything from rock to house to Latin to pop: Pump it Up: Exceed features hits by Grammy nominees The Crystal Method and Steriogram, as well as Earth Wind and Fire, Sugarhill Gang, and more--including unlockable tracks and music videos.

Product Description
This game is playable on the Xbox Live Online System. For a full list of Xbox Live products, click here! While other dance games arbitrarily assign positions to a dancer's feet, Pump It Up featureschoreographed steps for each song and a five button mat that lets the step designers reward players

5.0 out of 5 stars Blows DDR out of water, September 1, 2005
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Since Konami first released the original DDR in the late 1990's, there have been quiet a number of follow-ups, both from DDR franchise and from other developers as well.

Pump It Up is one of them. Originally created in Korea, it caused a nationwide sensation and dominated the arcade over DDR.

Soon PIU sensation spread to other countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan and others;

Yet, ironically, PIU stayed relatively unkown in USA. Although popular among some hardcore steppers and freestylers in arcade, there is no doubt that DDR owned PIU head to head for years in US.

Well forks, that's about to change forever. Finally, after a long wait, they've decided to release the PS2 and XBox version of PIU!!

Pump It Up : Exceed is it's full name. It would be wise to memorize the name now. Forget DDR. Forget In the Groove. A truly fascinating dance game is in the house.

Do yourself a favor and buy this if you liked playing DDR or were thinking about getting it. You won't be disappointed.

In XBox version of PIU:E you would be able to download new songs through the XBox online, which covers the fact that PS2 version has a few more songs.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where are the songs?!!, December 21, 2006
By WayneBruce (Escondido, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
I own DDR, and I've played both DDR and PIU in arcades before. One of the big draws of PIU is that it is a Korean game vs. DDR which is Japanese. That means different songs, korean dance songs. PIU: Exceed do not have any of the korean songs from the arcade game. In fact, I will say that the selection of songs in PIU is greately inferior to the songs in DDR. In a dance-rhythm game, the song is the second most important thing next to the dance pad itself. If the song isn't good, or to your beat, you'll do poorly at it. PIU: Exceed has a collection of songs that sound generally the same, and do not have any of the club feel of the DDR songs. I am very disappointed in this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 17-year-old loves it!, August 27, 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this as a 17th birthday gift for my daughter. She finds Pump It Up to be superior to Dance Dance Revolution.

Much to our amazement, the dance pad controller works with DDR as well (on the X-Box). Though lacking a DDR dance pad, she had been given some DDR games and played them with the hand-held controllers up until now.

While the PIU is a far superior product, the popularity of DDR means there are more titles available, so my daughter gets the best of both worlds using the PIU dance pad for the intended software as well as the competitor!
