5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous stopper, classier looking than Vacu-Vin
After reading the only review, I wasn't sure whether to give this product a try. It seemed as if the reviewer had no idea how to use a vacuum wine stopper, could not figure it out, and was unwilling to ask anyone. Given that hope (and for the great price) I went ahead and ordered the wine stopper and I'm really glad that I did.

This looks 10 times better...

2.0 out of 5 stars Wish the Stopper could Stop my Frustration!
I thought this was going to be a decent pump, but it has turned out to be less than what I had imagined...which was what it promised. First of all, the pump and stoppers arrived without packaging and without directions. A note was included from Amazon that directed me to go to the website to find out care instructions. The link it suggested offered up ZERO instructions,...

This looks 10 times better than the Vacu Vin stopper that I own and works equally well! You could have it out out a fancy party and it would still look fabulous. Also newer Vacu Vin stoppers -- the ones with the dimple in the middle -- can be used with this product. I played with it a lot last night and what fun! What a great stopper!

For those who don't know how to use the product, place a stopper in the bottle with the large end out. Place the opening of the vacuum device straight down covering the stopper. Then you hold the bottom where the stopper is with one hand and pump the air out in an up-and-down motion with the other hand. By removing the air from the bottle, the wine can last for a couple of weeks without turing into vinegar.

Do yourself a favor and buy one. Also buy them as gifts. People who love wine will be pleased and for this price you really cannot go wrong. The stoppers alone are worth the price! This is one of the best deals I've ever seen on Amazon and I shop here all of the time!

Also if you like champagne, you may want to buy a champagne sealer that is really easy to use and also works well. Metrokane Velvet Champagne & Wine Sealer

I thought this was going to be a decent pump, but it has turned out to be less than what I had imagined...which was what it promised. First of all, the pump and stoppers arrived without packaging and without directions. A note was included from Amazon that directed me to go to the website to find out care instructions. The link it suggested offered up ZERO instructions, other than those in the item's description. I tried to extract the air from the bottle, but it never got to the point where there was resistance! After spending more time on it than I wanted to, I realized... I wouldn't need the stopper after all. I simply finished the wine to calm my nerves!!! Tomorrow it will wed the trash can!

Bought this for my wife..... the lush! Keeps wine fresh tasting for days. We drink mostly port wines so can't respond to how it works in the refrigerator. Decent product that does what it's suppose to do.

There are many wine vacuum pumps, and the prices vary in a big range. The Pinzon pump has a nice chrome finish, and it is very easy to use. It works effectively. I can easily feel by the resistence that it is pumping out the air. When I open the bottle again, the refreshing sound of the pop is very assuring. It helps me keep the wine in good quality for days. The pack comes with two stoppers; you don't need anything else. The pump also works with the other stoppers that I already had. The price is a shouting bargain. I paid more than that just for the stoppers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intuitive to use, draws the air out and keeps it out., February 20, 2008
This review is from: Pump (Kitchen)
Pros: The design is pretty intuitive: put the plug in the bottle, put the pump on top of the plug and pump till you you feel a steady level of resistance. To release the vacuum lift up on the edge of the rubber seal. The plugs seal well enough that after two (2) days, my bottle still made a nice satisfying hiss when I let the air back in.

Cons: Comes with no instructions as to use or care, simply a notice referring you to a part of the Amazon site. The packaging is purely utilitarian, raw paper grocery bag brown with no hint of aesthetic design at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more cork bits, August 12, 2008
This review is from: Pump (Kitchen)
I think this is a much better way to reclose the wine as there are no cork bits to get into it. It fits perfectly in the neck and is easily removed at ones convenience.

Amazon had this on sale for 3 bucks so I figured I couldn't pass it up. While it doesn't come with instructions it is totally self explanatory about how to use it. Just plug your bottle, set the pump on, and pump for 5-10 seconds. It really could not be any easier.

Was worried after reading the reviews that this wouldn't work, but, the price was too good to pass up so I thought I'd try it. I'm glad I did! It works great! You need to put the rubber stopper on the wine bottle first and then place the pump over the stopper. While keeping the stopper on the bottle with one hand, you pump the handle up-and-down until you get resistance. I had to try it a couple times before I got the hang of it. I bought another one as a gift and he absolutely loves it too. I didn't give it 5 stars because it does not have the instructions with it and is not packaged nicely. But, at this price what can one expect?

I was most disappointed in this product. There were no instructions, but it didn't seem too dificult to figure out. Nevertheless, I could not create any vacuum whatsoever with the pump and stopper. I have no idea if mine was simply defective or if it just doesn't work.

I bought this set when it was marked down to $5.00 and it's not even worth that! I am very fond of my Vacu Vin, but this was so much more attractive and such a great deal that I thought I'd give it a try. What a waste! I can't get it to create any suction whatsoever, no matter how long I pump. The end result is the same as if I had just pushed the stopper in the bottle by hand. I definitely can't recommend this set.
