5.0 out of 5 stars No Matter your Reason for Pumping - this will HELP!
Breastfeeding is supposed to be an easy, natural, peaceful, bonding experience between mother and child. However, when something stands in the way, such as prematurity, illness, sucking problems, inverted nipples, or a number of other unforeseen things, you quickly learn how valuable that milk is per ounce. When a pump is thrown into the picture, everything changes. You...

I have been pumping for my six-month-old son since he was born and purchased this book with the hopes that it would contain a wealth of knowledge and information that I was not aware of. I was wrong. This book does contain a good deal of information, but much of it is either common knowledge or readily available on the web (as mentioned in a previous review). The rest of...

You have to begin really working at producing milk, obsessing about producing more milk, storage, heating, schedules and bottles. This book gives insight to all of these concerns. I too felt alone when I had to begin pumping for my son in the NICU. Luckily I found a terrific group of women online to get information from, support, and friendship. Susan Stafford happened to be one of these women, and she wrote this book for women like us.

Whether you are a working mother trying to build a supply up for when you're away from home, or you have made the decision to exclusively pump for your baby, this book is will be of assistance.

This is the only book on pumping I believe, it is the best book I have ever read. It really helped me, when I needed it the most. When I had my baby I was told I would be able to breastfeed and my heart broke, this was the one thing I wanted to get right (right for me), my labor and delivery didn't go as planed, and then neither did breast breastfeed. The nurses told me to pump to relive pressure, but not to pump too much and I would dry up. When I asked if I would pump and give it in bottles they said I could but that it wasn't worth the time. It was worth my time, This book helped show that I wasn't alone and helped me find support. If you are trying to breastfeed and are thinking about pumping BUY THIS BOOK it saved me, my pump, and gave my baby breast milk

5.0 out of 5 stars very helpful!, August 1, 2004
This review is from: Pumping Breast Milk Successfully (Paperback)
Although most of the information that was in here I had found already on the internet, this book gathers it all together. And, as an exclusive pumper until my daughter got the hang of nursing at 4 weeks, I found the personal stories that were published in there to be very relevant and poignant. I plan on loaning this book to my expecting friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars This milk helped me increase my supply!!, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Pumping Breast Milk Successfully (Paperback)
When our son was born, I was determined to breastfeed him until he was at least a year old. I had to go back to work, so I knew I'd end up pumping milk for him. However, I had no idea how difficult that could be!

When my supply started slipping when our son was about 7 months old, I had no idea what to do. Thankfully, I found Susan and her personal pumping story on an internet bulletin board and started emailing her. She sent me a copy of her book, and what I read and what she has told me has totally changed my outlook on pumping breastmilk.

I am proud to say that I have followed several of the helpful tips in her book and am now almost back up to where I was before my supply decreased. Our son is now 9 months old, and I have been able to continue giving him pumped breastmilk because of this book and Susan's help. I don't think I would have had the courage or the knowledge to continue pumping and increase my supply without the help and encouragement of Susan and her book.

Whatever your reason for pumping, I am positive that ALL breastfeeding and/or pumping mothers will be able to benefit from her book.

The rest of it is a collection of stories from women who have pumped exclusively....I could get similar stories out of a magazine. I was hoping for some new, breakthrough information in this book, but it was not to be found. I would recommend this book to someone who has NEVER READ ANYTHING on expressing breastmilk. But for those of us who have been there and done that, there is nothing new here.
