This award-winning book is written for a variety of potential readers; the expert and the beginner in the design office, members of a design team, the city engineer or chief engineer of a water or sewerage authority (or their subordinates) who may review plans and specifications, and manufacturers and their representatives who should know how their equipment will be used in practice.

Each author or contributor is an expert with many years experience in the subject concerned, and the whole content has been thoroughly reviewed and approved by equally qualified experts. This depth of experience and expertise contribute to make the book an essential addition to the bookshelves of any of the professionals noted above; it shows how to apply the fundamentals of various disciplines and subjects to produce a well-integrated pumping station which will be reliable, easy to operate and maintain, and free from design mistakes. Where inappropriate design can be costly for any of the foregoing reasons, there is simply no excuse for not taking expert advice from the pages of this book.

Review

This comprehensive, information-rich book for pumping station design consists of twenty-nine chapters and nine appendices. ...The preface to the book's second edition vividly expresses the editor-in-chief's passion and devotion to the goal of preparing an immensely informative book on pumping station design. I believe that the editor-in-chief and his colleagues have achieved that goal admirably. ...This book will be found very useful by engineers and planners, consulting and manufacturing firms, and government and municipal agencies. Additionally, it will be found very useful by educators teaching diverse aspects of environmental and water-resources engineering. ...The reviewer saluted the editor-in-chief, the co-editors, and the many contributors for their effort in preparing a book that contains a great wealth of knowledge of direct importance for pumping station design. - Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, August 2000

The Sanks' Pumping Station design is a mile stone in its field.
Having every aspect covered, Sanks has not only designed his book in a way that is easily readable for the field related people but also made it a basic reference for the people on the management side of it.
Owning such a book is a knowldge in itself !!!!
