4.0 out of 5 stars Will of the Wisp, February 13, 2009
This review is from: Pumpkin Scissors 1 (Paperback)
Also available as an animated series, Ryotar Iwanaga's comic follows the exploits of Imperial Army State Section III, a military taskforce devoted to the relief and reconstruction of a war-torn nation. But when the remnants of conflict threaten the land (usually in a tank), Section III's got a secret weapon--a mysterious new recruit hiding an awesome power. "Pumpkin Scissors" starts off strong with a feel reminiscent of "Fullmetal Alchemist," with lots of mindless action, comedy, and drama to spare. But this manga's got a style all its own. Vol. 1 features a brief lesson on Japanese honorifics.

This comic is rated OT (ages 16+): Violence.

4.0 out of 5 stars This manga series has an interesting start, November 8, 2010
This review is from: Pumpkin Scissors 1 (Paperback)
I found a copy of this manga volume while browsing the shelves at my local library. I checked it out to see what it was all about.

It has been three years since the cease-fire in the war between the Empire and the Republic of Frost. However, the Empire is ravaged with starvation and disease. Bandits also terrorize the people. It's up to the Imperial Army State Section III (also known as Pumpkin Scissors) to stop renegades that have chemical weapons. Pumpkin Scissors receives some help from a mysterious stranger.

I really enjoyed the writing and execution of the story in this manga volume. The artwork was pretty good, too. I would definitely check out future volumes of this manga if I can find them at my local library.

I wrote this review after checking out a copy of this manga volume through the King County Library System.
