Pumpkin Scissors is not just your average Manga series. Nor is it `cute' and concerned with boy meets girl, girl really likes boy but discovers he is `magical' and can summon creatures from another world or cheerlead like there's not tomorrow.

The premise of Pumpkin Scissors is the mission of the Imperial Army State Section III to rid the world left in the wake of the Empire/Republic of Frost peace treaty of corruption. In this world, class is important, and are the rules of combat and honor. Book Four takes us to a ball where the Princess is emotionally `taken' by the handsome Lionel Taylor. During the ball, Lord Paolo crashes the soiree and Lord Horst who has been embezzling funds from the people to live in luxury. (Gee that sounds familiar today). The Princess, as part of the Pumpkin Scissors challenges Horsts' champion. Central to the battle is not `justice' by the people, but rather who has the authority to be more criminal or immoral.

Yeah, the art by Iwanga rocks, and this is probably the best Manga I have seen, but the story is very strong here and as a result, comes highly recommended. If Shakespeare wrote Manga, this just might be it.
