Pure Pop Masterpiece,
By A Customer
This review is from: Punch & Beauty (Audio CD)
Matt Bruno has produced the perfect Pop album. "But, it's the year 2000", you say. "So what", say I. Great Pop knows no bounds of time, space nor continuum. Where did this guy come from? Why is this not a major label release? Matt brilliantly takes influences such as The Who, Badfinger, The Byrds, Dusty Springfield, Brian Wilson and others I can't quite put my finger (ear) on, and makes his own brand of Pop. And...I like it! Yeah, baby! Sock it to me! "On Top of The World" sports a beautiful thick wall of guitars fronted by brilliant harmonies. "Let Me Really Love You" is a powerful barn-burner full of jangly guitars and a screaming solo at the end of the song. "I Wanna Be Beautiful" should be the theme song for the next VH1 fashion awards; it's fun and irreverent. "Sooner or Later" is stuck in my head and won't come out. Even the more sophisticated pieces like "Lover, May I?" will have you coming back for more. This CD is stuck in my car and I just keep playing it over, and over, and over...a must for any Pop officionado(sp?)!
