Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-6 --Terban takes those everyday phrases known as idioms and gives clear and witty explanations of the meanings and origins of over 100 of them. Huffman's literal interpretation of each idiom in black-and-white ink drawings with bits of green add a comic air. Children will delight in this humorous study, as it makes the English language fun. An index of the idioms should make it a teacher pleaser as well. --Pamela K. Bomboy, Chesterfield County Public Schools, VA

4.0 out of 5 stars Terban produces another great idiom book!, January 1, 2010

This review is from: Punching the Clock: Funny Action Idioms (Paperback)
Terban is a very good author in this genre, and he has done well in this edition as well. This edition is meant for kids aged 9-12, and he picked very appropriate idioms. The illustrations are funny and age-appropriate, and you will enjoy going through them with your kids. Of course, as you get into this age group, kids have longer attention spans, and this book gets four stars due to it being shorter than some other books on the markets (though this one is a pretty good value). That being said, all of the idioms in the book are relevant, and you will have a blast going over them with your children.

Enjoy!
