A deep south welcome for Frank,
By
This review is from: Punisher: Frank Castle Max - Welcome To The Bayou TPB (Paperback)
I found this to be a quite enjoyable read. It's unusual to see a Punisher story with a lot of bright colours & set during the day. Also it's not set in some dirty city, this time it's set in real hillbilly territory. It's interesting watching Frank take on the deranged hicks (sure they're stereotyped to the max [pun intended]) but that's half the fun of it.
There is a short story at the end, Little Black Book, and this shows the Punisher in a completely different light. It's all dark & Frank is out to kill and there are some great shots of him looking very imposing & fearsome. Overall, the art is pretty good (really good in the LBB story) and the writing is very good. It's not up to Ennis standard but it is a good enjoyable read.

Seriously well written book (with a nice bonus story involving payback for Frank Castle). The art showcases good looking woman, crazy hicks, and a nice unintended ally for the Punisher. Yes, Punisher fans, there are writers other than Ennis that can rock this superhero and give him the recognition he deserves. This book is excellent.

Best since Ennis,

This is the best Punisher story since the departure of Garth Ennis. The art is good the girls are sexy and the story is 100% punisher. I hope this author builds on the material he put forth in this edition and gives us a few more excellent reads.

I read and enjoyed the punisher book "welcome to the Bayou" It was about the punisher against some very dangerous hillbillys. I think most punisher fans will enjoy the story. Most Guys out there will enjoy the pictures of the sexy girls in the story especially the blonde Jessica simpson "Daisy Duke" type that is really SEXY,GORGEOUS & BAD!overall the story is a very good read and the colors are very vibrant making the female characters look even HOTTER! the other punisher story is called "little black book" where the punisher teams up with a very sexy brunette named Vette to take down a powerful Miami drug lord. I liked this story too but it shoulda been a bit longer and the characters could of been a little better developed but a good read. I recommend both stories, especially if you love the punisher like I do!

If you are a new reader and your trying to get a feel for the punisher series and say you might have read well Punisher noir and did not enjoy that. This is the second best next to ennis' run on the Punisher. The bok is like a well done B movie with a cast of funny characters and when there is violence it gets gory. The premise is that Frank has got tupac or someone like that in his trunk and happens to see college kids and gets concerned for them. What he stumbles on is that they are being tortured and eaten by cannibal rednecks. Frank sets off on an enjoyable advfenture that is somewhat realistis except for the whole entire climax which seems like it never wants to end which I am okay with. Even though the dialouge is not to good the action does settle up for that

This book is one of the best ever!
The first story is about what happens when the punisher meets a southern cannibal and crazy family. The second story is not as good as the first but it is a good reading! If you like the punisher you have to get this book!

Punisher picking up after Ennis,
By danny boy "dbswongv" (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Punisher: Frank Castle Max - Welcome To The Bayou TPB (Paperback)
This is not Ennis' Punisher, but still, a fairly gritty Punisher. There are two stories here, Punisher takes on hicks in the Bayou and Punisher uses a callgirl to make a hit on a mobster.
Both stories are quite straighforward. I repeat - there are no surprises or twists in either stories. Thus in the first story, the Punisher senses a wacky situation in an isolated swamp and circles back to render his brand of justice. Aside from two larger than life behemoths, the well-rendered girls are the main draw here. Some attempt at humor with the black gangster is not done well. The second story has a "Dear Diary" kind of writing style - jaded callgirl gets truly enlightened when the Punisher is involved. 3+ to 4 stars. |
