5.0 out of 5 stars Forget What You Heard, This Title Is Great
I can't believe the reviews for this one. This book, basically a sequel to Bullseye's Greatest Hits, is a fun, funny read. Masterfully illustrated by the legend Steve Dillon and written with force by newcomer Daniel Way, this book is a treasure. If you liked Ennis' MK run on Punisher, Lobo, or Bullseye, this book is for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Was there really a call for a Bullseye book?
And make no mistake, this is a Bullseye book. The Punisher seems to be only around to give the piece some name recognition and to be Bullseye's whipping boy. Basically, Bullseye makes Castle look like a fool for the whole run. You keep waiting for the Punisher to lower the boom on him (he has, after all, beaten Bullseye many times before)but Bullseye is constantly getting...

5.0 out of 5 stars Would you say Bobby's an intellegent man?, July 8, 2009
This review is from: Punisher Vs. Bullseye (Punisher (Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
Punisher is the usual death avatar for goombahs in this one, but the star of the show is bullseye. Marvel's joker, he's recently assumed epically homicidal proportions. For example, in one bit bulleye's pondering why the punisher hasn't opened fire, "Well, he hasn't attacked yet...but that's probably because he knows I'll start wasting civilians." It's a very violent, high body count affair with flawless kinetic timing. Every time I read it, it renders itself right before my eyes as a big budget, summer blockbuster.

Some of the best smashmouth action comics available and Messieurs Way and Dillon execute with panache on psycho versus "joker". Daniel Way writes with wit, deft plotting and a very highest density of goosebump moments. Dillon still can't draw women but fortunately neither story feature many and he does great muzzle flashes. Eerily similar to Supreme Power: Nighthawk, both written in 2006 by this team and both hella awesome.

Fans of the Punisher -- and I can't imagine anyone else would pick this one up -- should avoid it like the plague. Trust me, it will just make you mad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brutal Stuff, August 12, 2006
This review is from: Punisher Vs. Bullseye (Punisher (Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
Against the mob, the Punisher runs through them like a bull in a china shop. But against someone crazier than he is? A brutal, and often hilarious romp. Steve Dillon's art is well-suited in this book, as he was in the "Welcome Back, Frank" 12-issue mini-series. Good stuff!

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's Buggs Bunny?, March 13, 2007
This review is from: Punisher Vs. Bullseye (Punisher (Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
I hated this comic. The cover art gets you amped for an epic battle between these to killers holding nothing back. Instead it's just all cartoony I'm surprised Bullseye didn't drop an anvil on the Punisher's head. If you don't believe me turn to the page where they both have red noses. Is this the two stooges? I'll wrap this up with a big LAME. 'nuff said.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, March 14, 2007
This review is from: Punisher Vs. Bullseye (Punisher (Unnumbered)) (Paperback)
I normally enjoy Daniel Way's work for Marvel. His Supreme Power spin-off, Nighthawk, was excellent, and his Bullseye: Greatest Hits mini-series was pretty good too. Based on his earlier Bullseye mini, I thought that Punisher VS Bullseye would be pretty decent as well, but I was mistaken. Most of the TPB revolves around Bullseye, with the Punisher only being a supporting character. Not to mention that while Bullseye is a great character and Way has him written as such, he's transformed the Punisher from the methodical, tactical, and driven criminal killer into a desperate character that seems to always get bested by Bullseye. As a previous reviewer said best, Way has turned Bullseye and the Punisher into the Road Runner and Wil E. Coyote. The dialogue isn't much better either, and the interplay between the two characters, which seemed so promising in Bullseye: Greatest Hits, is reduced to pointless bafoonery. The only saving grace of Punisher VS Bullseye is the art by Preacher co-creator Steve Dillon, who has always illustrated the Punisher great and worked with Way on Greatest Hits. After reading this, this only becomes more proof worthy that Garth Ennis is the only writer (besides Chuck Dixon in the 90's) that truly gets the Punisher and writes him the way the character should be. This may be worth a look for die hard fans of either character, but don't say I didn't warn you.
