This classic novel turned out to be a good read. I won't say great because I find all classics a little tough slugging, especially at the beginning. I ordered it for my son since it was a required school read and amazon had a better price that the school book store. The story brings to life the world of 1860's St. Petersburg with it's very wealthy and very poor. The destitute main character Rashkolnikov commits a desperate crime then agonizes over it, alternating between trying to justify it to himself and seeking redemption. The beauty of the novel laid it its rich characters and their interwoven world with the main character. Overall a great read.
